Database Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer to support the European Commission in Geel, Belgium. The successful candidate will bring strong database development expertise, particularly in Oracle PL/SQL, combined with hands-on experience in Jasper Reports., The Database Engineer will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimising database solutions and reporting components, while ensuring reliability, performance, and maintainability within a professional enterprise environment.

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimise database solutions.
• Develop and maintain PL/SQL procedures, functions, packages, triggers, and queries.
• Analyse and troubleshoot database-related issues and implement appropriate solutions.
• Perform database performance analysis and query optimisation.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance reports using Jasper Reports.
• Support the integration of database and reporting components with existing applications and systems.
• Contribute to technical documentation, testing, deployment, and maintenance activities.
• Work closely with developers, analysts, and other technical stakeholders.
• Follow European Commission development, security, quality, and documentation standards.

Candidates must demonstrate:

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience in database engineering, database development, or a closely related technical role.
• At least 5 years of hands-on experience with PL/SQL.
• At least 3 years of professional experience with Jasper Reports.
