Job description

Design Engineer - Job Role £40,000 - £45,000 salary per annum Shields (Driffield) Ltd is a well-established, family-run business based in Driffield, East Yorkshire. With a strong reputation built over many years, we take pride in delivering high-quality design, manufacturing, and installation services across the UK. We specialise in mechanical engineering and bulk materials handling and processing systems, offering everything from the manufacture of small precision components to large-scale turnkey installation projects. Much of our work comes from long-standing clients, reflecting our commitment to reliability, quality, and excellent customer service. The role We are looking for a full-time experienced Design Engineer to join our expanding team. They will produce detailed drawings and plans from site survey information and client specifications. A high level of accuracy and organisational skills is required. The candidate will work closely with Senior Designers and Project Engineers

Essential candidate requirements: * SolidWorks experience * Mechanical engineering background * Understanding of manufacture processes and materials * Excellent organisational, time management and communication skills. * Working knowledge of Microsoft Software packages (Word, Excel, etc.) * Mechanical engineering based qualification Desirable candidate requirements: * SolidWorks Training Modules - Assembly modelling, Advanced part modelling, Weldments, Sheetmetal * Time served engineering apprenticeship * Experience of working with bulk materials and handling/process equipment * Ability to carry out site measure and surveys * Knowledge and familiarity of survey equipment. E.g. 3D Scanning and interpretation of point cloud data * Experience of working with manufacture materials, such as: Carbon Steel, Stainless Steel and Aluminium.
