The role combines hands-on engineering, problem solving, facilitation and coaching. You do not need to have every answer, but you do need to be curious, practical and able to bring people with you. Essential CriteriaBachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field, or previous commercial experience3+ years of industry experience in software engineering or application developmentExperience with AI driven engineering tools and techniques e.g. Kiro (Amazon Q developer), Github Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Compound EngineeringExperience with agentic AI workflows and steering techniques for reliable automationEnsure alignment with architectural patterns, coding standards, and performanceStrong Object-Oriented Programming skills (e.g., Java, Python, C#)Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesKnowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)Candidates must be permanently based in Northern Ireland with the relevant Right to Work VisaDesirable CriteriaAWS certification or equivalent in cloud servicesFamiliarity with RAG architectures, embeddings, and context management strategiesExperience with agentic AI workflows and steering techniques for reliable automationExperience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)Proven experience with full-stack development (front-end, back-end, APIs, databases)Familiarity with security best practices and compliance standardsFamiliarity with automated testing frameworks and QA processesPlease note this in NOT a remote position, we operate a hybrid model with 2 days in the office per week.Aflac NI is an equal opportunities employer.
