Job description
- We are responsible for the administration and operation of our infrastructure.
- We manage Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and PKI services.
- We work with strong Azure IaaS and PaaS, and Office 365/Exchange Online environments.
- We install and maintain hardware and software on a virtualized Windows network.
- We develop processes and procedures to maintain high levels of availability, security, and quality in managed environments.
- We lead the security workstream of our Active Directory consolidation program.
- We identify risks and provide remediation guidance to help deliver a hardened and sustainable Active Directory environment.
- We deliver scripted solutions to support discovery and remediation of ad hoc security gaps.
- We follow all procedures and policies related to our Change Management system.
- We develop proactive capacity forecasts to prevent outages.
- We manage crisis situations to a satisfactory conclusion, even under stress.
- We provide guidance on information security risk and compliance topics.
- We serve as an escalation point for complex production, application, and system issues.
- We provide troubleshooting guidance and direction for escalated issues.
- We accommodate schedule flexibility for escalations and occasional non-core business hours changes.
- We plan, facilitate, and participate in meetings across all organizational levels.
- We collaborate with cloud, compute, messaging, and IT operations teams.
- We communicate business and technical information to a wide range of audiences.
- We document and present information clearly.
- We cross-train team members and share knowledge across our global team.

The Senior Systems Engineer (Team Lead) role sits within our Cloud & Compute Engineering group and works closely with our Cloud, Compute, Messaging Engineering Teams, and Senior Systems Engineers of IT Operations. This is a full-time role based in the United Kingdom, with locations including Birmingham, Colchester, London, Manchester, Bristol, Home Base, Sheffield, Southampton, Kent, St. Albans, Leeds, Glasgow, and Redhill. We are looking for someone who enjoys solving complex business problems and working with talented colleagues in an innovative environment.
Requirements
- We require a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience supporting a production environment.
- We require 3 to 5 years of practical experience managing and troubleshooting authentication services.
- We require 5 or more years of strong automation experience, including PowerShell, scripts, and Terraform.
- We require at least 5 years of advanced Active Directory experience.
- We require knowledge of AKS, Kerberos, LDAP, Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP.
- We require experience implementing backup and restore, disaster recovery, and recovery strategies.
- We require strong familiarity with security issues in network computing and experience implementing security systems and controls.
- We require strong knowledge of MFA, Enterprise Apps, IaaS, and PaaS in Microsoft Azure.
- We require expert knowledge of Active Directory and GPOs in a Windows Server 2019/2016 environment.
- We require significant experience with Windows operating systems scripting and troubleshooting.
- We require experience with user and security administration in a Windows environment.
- We require extensive experience maintaining and administering VMware virtualized systems.
- We require a technologist mindset with the ability to work on complex projects.
- We require strong organization, time management, and multitasking skills.
- We require excellent written and oral communication skills.
- We require the ability to cross-train team members.
- We require the ability to adapt to a highly dynamic environment with complex and shifting priorities.
- We require experience in a Team Lead role.
- Industry-specific training or a designation such as MCSA, or equivalent, is preferred.
- A technical degree or certifications are preferred but not required.
