Job description

  • We execute software solutions, including design, development, and technical troubleshooting, using creative approaches to solve complex problems.
  • We create secure, high-quality production code and maintain algorithms that run synchronously with appropriate systems.
  • We perform platform design, setup, and configuration, and provide engineering support to data engineering, Data Science/ML, and application/integration teams.
  • We collaborate with engineering and data teams to optimize infrastructure and deployment processes, with a focus on automation and operational excellence.
  • We identify opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve operational stability.
  • We leverage enterprise-authorized AI coding assist tools to improve code quality, delivery speed, and productivity, while validating outputs through peer review, automated testing, and secure coding standards.
  • We apply knowledge of software development life cycle toolchains, including enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to increase the value realized by automation.
  • We lead evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to assess architectural designs, technical credentials, and fit within our systems and information architecture.
  • We contribute to software engineering communities of practice and events that explore new and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • We require formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, along with applied experience.
  • We require extensive experience with AWS Databricks platform administration and engineering support.
  • We require a strong understanding of SRE principles, including SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and incident management.
  • We require experience with monitoring tools, automation frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • We require hands-on experience using enterprise-authorized AI-assisted software development tools, with the ability to validate and refine AI-generated outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • We require an understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, secure handling of inputs and outputs, and resiliency and security expectations.
  • We require proficiency in Python and/or Java application development with automated unit testing.
  • We require a solid understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, application resiliency, and security.
  • We require knowledge of big data distributed compute frameworks such as Spark, Glue, and MapReduce.
  • We require excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Preferred: experience with data pipelines using Spark.
  • Preferred: exposure to AWS and Databricks platform administration.
  • Preferred: knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and orchestration.
  • Preferred: familiarity with distributed systems and large-scale data processing.
