Senior Staff iOS Engineer

Provides expert level IT technical lead services, including the direction, evaluation, selection, configuration, implementation, and integration of new and existing technologies and tools., Vanguard is making significant investments in mobile technology as we build the next generation of digital experiences for our clients. We’re seeking a Staff iOS Engineer to help shape the future of our native mobile platform, influence technical direction, and deliver high-quality experiences used by millions of investors. You’ll join a collaborative team of engineers, architects, product managers, and designers focused on building scalable, secure, and innovative mobile solutions. This is an opportunity to work on modern mobile architecture, drive engineering best practices, mentor fellow engineers, and have a meaningful impact on one of the industry’s leading investment platforms.

This hybrid position is based in Charlotte, NC, with in-office work required Tuesday through Thursday. Relocation assistance may be available for eligible non-local U.S. candidates. Visa sponsorship is not available.

What You’ll Do:

• Contribute to the architecture, design, and development of Vanguard’s native iOS application.
• Translate stories into design and code. Develop well-engineered code and test artifacts backed by automated tests. Elevate code into the development, test and production environments on schedule.
• Lead complex cross-team initiatives that improve scalability, performance, reliability, and developer productivity.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and identify opportunities to improve our mobile ecosystem.
• Champion modern iOS development practices including automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and performance optimization.
• Mentor engineers across the organization and help elevate technical excellence within the mobile engineering community.
• Conduct architecture reviews, design discussions, and code reviews to ensure high-quality technical solutions.
• Partner with architects, product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver innovative client experiences, delivering business value and address technical debt.
• Contribute to building an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performing engineering culture., * Swift, SwiftUI, UIKit and modern iOS frameworks
• Swift Concurrency (Async/Await)
• Mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, Modular Architecture)
• CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions, Fastlane, or similar tools
• Automated testing strategies and frameworks
• Observability and monitoring tools such as Honeycomb, Splunk, or similar platforms
• Git and modern development workflows

Are you a highly skilled iOS engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing architecture, and driving engineering excellence?, * Extensive experience building and shipping native iOS applications at scale.

• Deep expertise in Swift and modern iOS development practices.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, object-oriented design, dependency injection, testing strategies, and performance optimization.
• Demonstrated experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience influencing technical decisions through collaboration and technical leadership.
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience working within modern Agile product development environments.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and demonstrate a hands-on understanding.
• Experience with cloud development platforms, mobile/web development frameworks, and micro-service architecture, * Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent or relevant experience
• 8+ years of software engineering experience
• 5+ years developing and delivering native iOS applications.
• Experience leading technical design and architecture decisions.
• Experience mentoring engineers and driving engineering best practices.
