Insight Global is seeking a Principal Systems Engineering Technical Advisor to support the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Research, Development, Test & Evaluation (RDT&E) organization in Alexandria, VA. This individual will serve as a senior Test & Evaluation (T&E) Subject Matter Expert responsible for advising leadership on the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) across Department of Defense (DoD) modeling and simulation initiatives. The ideal candidate possesses a strong systems engineering foundation, extensive T&E experience, and the ability to influence strategy, support program growth, advocate for funding, and communicate complex technical concepts to senior government stakeholders., Serve as a senior technical advisor supporting OSD RDT&E initiatives focused on Test & Evaluation, systems engineering, and AI/ML implementation.
Provide subject matter expertise on the application of AI/ML technologies within DoD modeling, simulation, and test environments.
Support the development and execution of AI/ML implementation roadmaps and strategic modernization efforts.
Advise government leadership on technical approaches, emerging technologies, and investment priorities related to AI-enabled capabilities.
Collaborate with military, government civilian, FFRDC, and industry stakeholders to advance T&E science and technology initiatives.
Assess and evaluate AI/ML-enabled systems to ensure testability, effectiveness, and operational relevance.
Provide systems engineering expertise throughout the lifecycle of advanced defense technology programs.
Develop, review, and present technical recommendations, white papers, studies, briefings, and strategic planning documents.
Support program advocacy efforts, including the development of technical justifications for funding initiatives and future investment opportunities.
Assist leadership in preparing for annual program, budget, and congressional reviews by providing technical analysis and supporting documentation.
Brief senior government leaders, technical review boards, and external stakeholders on program objectives, progress, capabilities, and funding requirements.
Analyze emerging technologies, trends, and modernization efforts impacting DoD Test & Evaluation and modeling and simulation environments.
Support cross-functional teams in the advancement of science and technology programs aligned with Department of Defense priorities.
Provide technical leadership and thought partnership in shaping the future direction of AI/ML-enabled T&E capabilities across the DoD.
Maintain awareness of evolving defense policies, acquisition priorities, and technology initiatives that influence program execution and strategic planning.
Requirements
Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
-Master’s degree and 10+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, Test & Evaluation, or related DoD technical disciplines.
-Extensive experience supporting DoD, military, or federal government organizations.
-Strong Test & Evaluation (T&E) background.
-Systems engineering experience supporting complex technical programs.
-Knowledge of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning applications within defense environments.
-Experience serving in a senior technical advisor, chief engineer, principal engineer, or similar leadership capacity.
-Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including experience briefing senior government and military leadership. -PhD in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
-Experience supporting OSD, TRMC, DOT&E, Service headquarters, or other senior DoD organizations.
-Military background, particularly within Navy, Army, or defense research and testing communities.
-Experience with Modeling & Simulation (M&S) environments and AI/ML-enabled test methodologies.
-Familiarity with DoD budgeting, program advocacy, and congressional review processes.
Benefits & conditions
$90-$95/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.
Benefit packages for this role will start on the 31st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Employees in this role are also entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
