Job description

Leads the planning and designing of an organization’s systems infrastructure. Ensures the accuracy and effectiveness of the systems meets business/customers’ requirements, monitors the performance of systems, and suggests improvements. Verifies and reviews system-related documents/reports including installation procedures. Provides a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge. Develops and designs infrastructure and technology platforms, including operating systems, storage solutions, utilities, databases, etc. Determines hardware compatibility and/or influences hardware design. Performs system-wide/cross-functional team management. Is responsible for solving highly technical and complex problems on multiple projects and providing consultative support to internal staff. Acts as a mentor to less experienced employees. Responsibilities: Evaluates and recommends new computer hardware, software, and solutions. Displays exceptional customer service to users of IT technologies by understanding and anticipating customer needs. Serves as a role model and leader to those in IT and throughout the organization. Designs and deploys technical solutions for availability, performance, and recoverability. Installs, configures, patches, and administrates mainframe and storage-related system software, as well as mainframe software tools used by other IT technical teams. Supports mainframe environment hardware (IBM Z, DASD, tape drives, etc.). Designs and collaborates on IT infrastructure roadmaps. Leads DR planning and testing initiatives. Continuously improves system design, deployment methodology, monitoring services, and operational capabilities to eliminate unplanned down-time. Resolves complex problems and outages related to the production environment. Provides technical problem-solving assistance to technical staff. Provides feedback for staff to help professional development plans and goals in a timely and effective manner. Exhibits high accountability for corporate guidelines regarding use of technology and security standards. Provides leadership and guidance for projects related to area of expertise. Applies the KFB corporate guiding principles of connectivity, championing people, customer service, and operational excellence in daily work and decision making. Provides 24 hour on-call support as needed. Regular, predictable attendance as employee has to physically be in the office. Participates in formal IT Change Control procedures. Fulfills administrative reporting requirements. Documents standards and procedures as related to computer operations and maintenance. Maintains a current knowledge of computer technical subjects deemed necessary to fulfill the essential requirements of the job. Job Specifications Physical demands: Normal vision/hearing (with or without correction); Sitting; On-call availability. Mental demands: Prolonged concentration; Analytical reasoning. Environmental factors: Standard office lighting, temperature, and noise.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree (preferably in computer science, information systems, or mathematics) or a combination of formal education, training, and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by a college graduate. 5-7 years of professional technology experience with a concentration in mainframe systems. 5-7 or more years of administration experience including system installation and configuration, as well as installation of vendor software products Certifications a plus. Average keyboarding skills. Good verbal and written communications.
