Job description

MATLABGraphicsteam is looking fora Principal Software Engineer tohelpshapetheevolutionof MATLAB graphics. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the design and direction of a graphics and data visualization platform used by millions of scientists, engineers, and educators worldwide tovisualizeandanalyzedata., * Drive the technical evolution of the MATLAB Graphics architecture toward a cloud-native model, partnering with stakeholders toalign ongoals and priorities.

  • Mentor junior engineers through technical guidance and design reviews, supporting their technical growth and raising the quality bar across the team.
  • Apply modern cloud engineering practices to graphics and visualization systems(CI/CD, observability, scalability, security).
  • Deliver concrete enhancements to MATLAB graphics and interactive visualization(e.g., performance,renderingfidelity, interactivity, and new visualization capabilities).

Requirements

As aPrincipal Engineer, you will bringdeep experience incloud application developmenttomodernize and extend MATLAB’s graphics architecture.You willshape the long-termdirection of thearchitecturespanning desktop and web. You will bepartnering with, influencing, and coaching engineerswho specialize in graphics systems and browser-based rendering.If you are motivated bysolving challenging architectural problems, anddelivering high customer impact, this role offers a rare opportunity to make a lasting contribution., * Understanding ofcloud-native architecture patterns - including scalability, reliability, and observability - to guide the evolution of a graphics architecture toward a cloud native model.

  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders and drive alignment on technical direction and prioritization for complex systems.

  • Track recordof mentoring and developing engineers through technical guidance, design feedback, and architectural reviews.

  • Experience with MATLAB or other scientific computation and data visualization software.

  • Familiarity with web graphics or charting frameworks such as D3.js, Three.js, or similar.

  • Familiarity with designing and implementing computer graphics and data visualization systems using browser-based rendering technologies (e.g., WebGL)., * A bachelor’s degree and 10 years of professional work experience (or equivalent experience) is required.
