  • Writes working Go code live
  • Understands concurrency + distributed systems
  • Can explain scale with real numbers
  • Shows clear ownership + decision-making
  • Thinks through edge cases + architecture
  • Performs well under pressure

Project Description

  • The work is focused on building shared technical systems and tools that multiple Tesla teams can use.
  • Examples discussed in the meeting include:

  • Creating centralized infrastructure (e.g., workflow/orchestration tooling like Temporal)
  • Building systems that support scalability, reliability, and high traffic
  • Developing platform capabilities (e.g., improving communication layers like moving from REST to gRPC)

Overall project focus:

  • Platform / infrastructure engineering
  • Distributed systems
  • Reusable tooling across multiple teams and domains
  • Supporting customer-facing flows indirectly by improving backend systems, * Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs using Golang

  • Monitoring and alerting
  • Work with DevOps pipelines to:

  • Build and deploy applications
  • Consume services across environments
  • Ensure smooth production releases
  • Deploy and manage applications in Kubernetes-based environments

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (frontend, DevOps, product)

Requirements

  • Strong Golang (Go) experience

  • This is the primary language for the team
  • Backend engineering expertise

  • Building APIs / web services
  • System design capability

  • Especially for scalable, distributed systems
  • Distributed systems experience

  • Thinking in terms of scale, availability, and reliability
  • Kubernetes + CI/CD experience
  • Experience with:

  • Databases (both SQL fundamentals + NoSQL exposure)
  • Event-driven architecture (Kafka, RabbitMQ, etc.)
  • Ability to:

  • Build infrastructure/tooling, not just product features
  • Work in high-traffic environments

Additional Qualifications (Nice to Haves) Nice-to-Haves (Strong Value Adds)

  • LLM / AI experience

  • Experience with:

  • ArgoCD, Helm
  • Distributed caching
  • Infrastructure/platform tooling
  • Exposure to:

  • gRPC or modern service communication patterns
  • Strong NoSQL experience (especially MongoDB)
