Job description

Edgewater Federal Solutions is seeking a Full Stack Python Developer to support a federal government customer. This role will design, develop, test, and maintain cloud-native applications, Python-based microservices, RESTful APIs, and AWS infrastructure. The selected candidate will collaborate with technical teams and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into secure, scalable, maintainable solutions., Develop and maintain production-grade Python microservices and cloud-native applications.

  • Define and deploy multi-environment AWS infrastructure using AWS CDK and infrastructure-as-code practices.
  • Model and orchestrate complex business workflows using AWS Step Functions and Lambda.
  • Build containerized applications and design versioned RESTful APIs with effective validation and error handling.
  • Implement application logging, monitoring, alerting, and audit trails using Amazon CloudWatch and AWS CloudTrail.
  • Create and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment of cloud applications.
  • Write unit and integration tests, troubleshoot defects, and perform code remediation.
  • Conduct peer code reviews focused on maintainability, performance, security, and engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to architecture decisions and maintain clear technical and system documentation.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to analyze business needs and deliver practical technical solutions.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Seven or more years of software development experience within structured SDLC and Agile environments.
  • Advanced, production-grade Python development experience using modern frameworks and testing libraries.
  • Hands-on experience with Python 3.9+, AWS Lambda, AWS Step Functions, API Gateway, DynamoDB, Amazon S3, CloudWatch, and CloudTrail.
  • Experience using AWS CDK to define and deploy infrastructure across multiple environments.
  • Hands-on experience creating and managing CI/CD pipelines for cloud applications.
  • Strong RESTful API design skills, including service versioning, validation, and error handling.
  • Experience building and deploying containerized applications with Docker.
  • Proficiency with Git or GitLab workflows, branching strategies, merge requests, and code reviews.
  • Experience writing unit and integration tests and remediating code defects.
  • Strong analytical, communication, documentation, and stakeholder collaboration skills., * Experience with Terraform and complementary infrastructure-as-code tools.
  • Frontend development experience with Angular or React and TypeScript.
  • Experience with AWS SNS, SQS, Athena, Glue, and load balancing services.
  • Experience using AI coding assistants, such as Claude Code, for code review, optimization, documentation, debugging, troubleshooting, and test development.
  • Ability to critically evaluate, test, secure, and adapt AI-generated code before incorporating it into production solutions.

Benefits & conditions

Performance Period: Through the end of the year, with the possibility of extension.

Salary: $126,058 - $128,860
