Job description
Our client operates urgent care and primary care clinics across four states, largely in rural communities that depend on them for accessible healthcare. They’ve built a working AI agent tool that automates billing and insurance workflows, and they need an engineer to take full ownership of it, working directly with the CEO and the revenue cycle team who use it every day. This is a chance to see your code directly improve how care gets delivered and paid for in underserved markets., * Direct reporting line to the CEO with real ownership over a live, in-production AI tool.
- Full autonomy as the sole engineer on the product, shaping the roadmap yourself.
- Hands-on work with LLMs and AI agents inside a regulated, HIPAA-compliant environment.
- Daily collaboration with the revenue cycle team, seeing your work’s impact firsthand.
- Strong foundation for a first-engineer or founding-engineer track record.
- In-person, collaborative office environment in Birmingham.
Compensation
- $90k - $110k
What You’ll Be Doing
- Own and evolve the internal AI agent tool that automates billing and insurance workflows end to end.
- Write and ship production code as the sole engineer on the product, with executive visibility.
- Sit with clinic and billing staff to observe workflows and translate their needs into features.
- Build and maintain solutions within an Azure-based, HIPAA-compliant environment.
- Apply data analytics skills to revenue cycle management data and processes.
- Explain technical work in plain language to non-technical operational and clinical staff.
- Experiment with LLMs and AI agent capabilities to expand what the tool can automate.
Requirements
- Comfortable operating as the sole engineer on a live product, with no senior developer reviewing your work.
- Demonstrated experience combining software development with data analytics.
- Some hands-on exposure to LLMs or AI agents, side projects included.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year, brick-and-mortar institution.
- Willing to work in-person, full-time, at the Birmingham office.
