Job description

Scope of Work/Job Characteristics The Database Administrator will serve as the principal line of communication for the project team. The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

Power Business Intelligence (BI) requirements: “ Convert existing Qlik dashboards to Power BI; “ Support and maintain the existing Qlik dashboards, in parallel, while they are converted or replaced by Power BI dashboards; “ Interact with business customers regularly to consolidate and analyze requirements and present them with the dashboard design results; and “ Develop and maintain technical specifications, standards, procedures, and techniques for collecting, processing, storing, and distributing Power BI dashboards.

Data Warehouse (DW) requirements: “ Create and maintain Enterprise DW architecture and standards based on Microsoft SQL Server and the Department’s Data Visualization and Statistics platforms; “ Interact with business customers regularly to consolidate and analyze requirements and present them with the design results; “ Create and maintain ETL architecture and provide strategy related to data cleansing, data quality, and data consolidation; “ Analyze developers’ needs for new DW objects and make recommendations as to the most efficient way to implement the requirements while ensuring optimization; “ Develop and maintain technical specifications, standards, procedures, and techniques for collecting, processing, and storing DW data; “ Develop and maintain processes that optimize databases and queries to ensure response times are kept to a minimum; and “ Work with the database team to create SQL Server Integration Systems Packages (SSIS) Packages that push data to SQL Server databases from International Business Machines (IBM) mainframe Database 2 (DB2).

Requirements

Do you have experience in Writing skills?, Do you have a Master’s degree?, A bachelor’s or master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or four (4) years of equivalent work experience is required. Relevant experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis when applicable. The Department requires the following experience, skills, and knowledge for this position: “ Demonstrable excellence in written and verbal communication skills; “ Experience preparing verbal and written status reports; “ Experience in providing customer and management verbal and written briefings; “ Proven experience creating and maintaining Power BI dashboards and developing and maintaining DW architectures using SQL SSIS;

Power BI requirements: “ A minimum of two (2) years of experience in converting Qlik dashboards to Power BI; “ A minimum of two (2) years of experience building Power BI dashboards to satisfy business requirements; “ Experience with the full development cycle of a Data Visualization, including requirement gathering, design, implementation, and maintenance of dashboards; “ A minimum of two three (3) years of experience building and supporting Power BI dashboards; and “ A minimum of four (4) years of experience developing data visualization dashboards.

DW requirements: “ A minimum of two (2) years of experience building ELT processes that load DB2 data streams into a SQL Server DW environment; “ A minimum of three (3) years of experience with the full development cycle of a DW, including requirement gathering, design, implementation, and maintenance; “ A minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in DW administration; and “ A minimum of five (5) or more years of experience in SQL Server administration, including SSIS package development and support.

Preferred Qualifications The Department prefers the Candidates to have the following experience, skills, and/or knowledge for this position: “ Experience in Data administration in a multi-tiered environment (DB2 and SQL); “ Data Visualization and Statistics experience utilizing tools such as Power BI, Qlik, or Statistical Analysis System (SAS); “ Experience using Data Modeling tools; and “ Experience with International Business Machines (IBM) Message queuing, working with heterogeneous data sources, and Host Integration Services (HIS).
