Job description

We are seeking a Senior .NET Backend & Cloud Software Engineer to help design, build, and support a high-profile, mission-critical E-Citations platform for one of New York City’s largest public sector organizations.

This is a highly visible, hands-on engineering role where you’ll develop scalable cloud-native services, secure APIs, enterprise integrations, workflow automation solutions, and modern data pipelines. You’ll collaborate with Product, Mobile, Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Data Engineering, QA, and Enterprise Architecture teams to deliver secure, resilient, production-ready systems.

What You’ll Do

Backend Software Engineering

  • Design, develop, deploy, and support modern backend services using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core
  • Build scalable, high-performance applications supporting critical business workflows
  • Develop secure RESTful and SOAP APIs that integrate mobile, cloud, enterprise, and legacy platforms
  • Participate in architecture, technical design, code reviews, testing, releases, and production support
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following software engineering best practices

Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Design and build cloud-native solutions using Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP)
  • Develop serverless applications using services such as Azure Functions or AWS Lambda
  • Build and support containerized applications utilizing Kubernetes, AKS, ECS/Fargate, GKE, or Cloud Run
  • Contribute to cloud architecture decisions focused on scalability, reliability, security, and performance
  • Implement Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform, ARM/Bicep, CloudFormation, or similar tools

API Development & Enterprise Integration

  • Design and implement integrations utilizing REST, SOAP, API Gateways, SFTP, PGP, messaging platforms, and enterprise integration patterns
  • Build resilient asynchronous, real-time, and batch processing solutions
  • Troubleshoot complex integration challenges across distributed systems and enterprise environments
  • Connect backend services to mobile applications, databases, cloud services, and legacy technologies

Event-Driven Architecture & Data Engineering

  • Develop workflow automation and event-driven solutions using technologies such as: Kafka, Azure Event, Hub, SNS/SQS, Pub/Sub, Durable Functions, Step Functions
  • Design and optimize relational and NoSQL data models
  • Build ETL/ELT processes and enterprise data integrations
  • Improve database performance, scalability, and reliability

DevOps, Security & Production Support

  • Build CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or GitLab CI/CD
  • Implement automated testing and modern observability practices
  • Develop logging, monitoring, telemetry, and distributed tracing capabilities
  • Apply secure coding principles, authentication, authorization, encryption, and secrets management
  • Troubleshoot production issues, perform root-cause analysis, and deliver long-term solutions

Requirements

Technical Expertise

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience building enterprise applications
  • Strong hands-on experience with: C#, .NET, ASP.NET Core
  • Experience designing and developing cloud-native backend services and APIs
  • Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud platform (Azure, AWS, or GCP)
  • Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies
  • Strong knowledge of REST APIs, enterprise integration patterns, and distributed systems
  • Experience working with: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Azure SQL, NoSQL databases
  • Experience building ETL/ELT pipelines and large-scale data integrations
  • Knowledge of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, JWT, RBAC/IAM, encryption, and Secure SDLC practices
  • Experience with DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code, CI/CD, automated testing, and observability tools

  • Experience integrating modern cloud services with legacy enterprise systems
