Job description

We’re supporting an established, values-led organisation in Oxford that is looking to appoint a strategic IT Manager to take ownership of its technology function.

This is a predominantly remote role (typically c.1 day per week in Oxford, flexibility for candidates further afield attending fortnightly).

The Opportunity

This is a broad, organisation-wide position combining IT strategy, MSP governance, cybersecurity oversight, and systems improvement.

You will

  • Own and evolve the IT roadmap (a draft is already in place)
  • Lead application selection and technology decision-making
  • Oversee a Managed Service Provider (first & second line outsourced)
  • Review and assess MSP performance and future delivery model
  • Drive cybersecurity governance (ISO 27001, Cyber Essentials Plus environment)
  • Lead audit readiness and compliance best practice
  • Oversee infrastructure, hybrid/cloud environments and SaaS estate
  • Deliver key 12-month initiatives including hosting/cloud review, file-sharing platform review, web security tooling and password management improvements

This is not a large enterprise IT leadership role. It’s ideal for someone who enjoys owning IT within a 70-person organisation and shaping its future direction.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as an IT Manager, Senior IT Manager, or IT Lead
  • Strong grounding in infrastructure, cloud and SaaS ecosystems
  • Experience managing MSPs and external vendors
  • Exposure to regulated or audited environments (ISO, Cyber Essentials or similar)
  • Comfortable reporting into executive leadership and translating technical into business language
  • Proactive, commercially aware, and improvement-focused

Benefits & conditions

Permanent - up to £60,000

OR Part-Time (30-37 hours per week, pro rata up to £60,000), * Up to 8% matched pension

  • 25 days holiday rising to 30 (plus bank holidays)
  • Annual cost of living review
  • Performance-based annual award
  • EV salary sacrifice scheme
  • Flexible hybrid working

If you’re looking for ownership, influence and long-term progression within a mission-driven organisation, this is worth exploring. #J-18808-Ljbffr
