Job description

  • Lead and optimize the Business Intelligence (BI) engineering team by overseeing the design, development, and implementation of BI systems and solutions.
  • Establish Service-Level Agreements (SLAs) for data availability and accuracy.
  • Produce and maintain data visualizations in dashboards and reports using Power BI, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Lead and conduct discovery based on established business requirements, including reading production code and documentation, user testing the app, and meeting with engineering and system owners.
  • Work with data engineering team members to connect external data sources and build long-term pipelines of the data to the organization’s main data warehouse.
  • Design and implement complex data models using SQL query in dbt to support dashboards and ad hoc analysis and to transform raw source data into usable derived tables for BI/analytics tool consumption and visualization.
  • Fully automate each created dbt/SQL model by scheduling tasks in ETL orchestration tools including Apache Airflow, MWAA or dbt Jobs.
  • Design, build, and maintain Directed Acyclic Graph (DAGs) for the new ETL pipelines in Apache Airflow.
  • Ensure smooth deployment of code to production by leveraging CI/CD monitoring tools including CircleCI or Github Actions.
  • Provide peer code review feedback on Github Pull Requests.
  • Lead, mentor, and collaborate with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders to gather reporting and data requirements, ensuring accurate and effective data models, dashboards, and reports.
  • Contribute to long-term data strategy and roadmap development.
  • Establish data governance, quality control, and documentation standards.
  • Manage projects using Kanban, Agile, or Scrum methodologies to ensure timely delivery and alignment with business objectives.
  • Perform advanced analyses in large-scale data warehouse environments including Snowflake, AWS Redshift, or Databricks and document the analyses in a structured and organized manner, using knowledge management tools including Confluence, Notion, or Google Docs/Drive.
  • This is a fully remote position. Work from home benefit provided. Worksites are unanticipated.

Requirements

Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or a closely related field. Experience required: Five (5) years of experience as a Marketing Analyst, Marketing Analytics Manager, Data Science Program Manager, BI Engineer, or a closely related occupation. Special Requirements: Two (2) of the five (5) years of experience must be in a managerial or team lead position within a BI engineering/data warehousing or similar industry. Demonstrable knowledge and prior experience in:

  • Any of the following data warehouses: Snowflake, AWS Redshift, or Databricks.
  • Any of the following BI tools: Power BI, Looker, or Tableau.
  • Any of the following knowledge management tools: Confluence, Notion, or Google Docs/Drive.
  • Any of the following ETL orchestration tools: Apache Airflow, MWAA, or dbt Jobs.

Demonstrable knowledge and prior experience in:

  • Designing and implementing complex data models using SQL query in dbt to support dashboards and ad hoc analysis and to transform raw source data into usable derived tables for BI/analytics tool consumption and visualization.
  • Designing, building, and maintaining DAGs for the new ETL pipelines in Apache Airflow.

  • Either CircleCI or GitHub Actions.
  • Either Kanban, Agile, or Scrum methodologies.
