Job description

Our long term client is a market-leading UK-based technology client that provides cutting-edge security and intelligence solutions to government agencies worldwide. They are now looking to expand their team by hiring a talented and motivated Database Infrastructure Engineer. This is a fantastic opportunity for a professional who is not only skilled in database management but also has a broad knowledge of wider IT infrastructure., You will play a critical role in maintaining and optimising the company’s IT infrastructure, ensuring a secure and stable environment for both internal systems and remote customer platforms., * Building, maintaining, and performance-tuning databases (Microsoft MSSQL, MySQL) that operate 24/7.

  • Implementing and managing high availability and replication solutions (Availability Groups, Galera Clusters) to ensure continuous operation.
  • Monitoring and managing backups and disaster recovery plans.
  • Configuring and maintaining firewall, networking, and VPN solutions.
  • Working with virtualisation technologies (vCenter, vSphere).
  • Occasional foreign travel to customer sites.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will be a pragmatic, organised and a clear communicator, as this role will involve occasional customer-facing interactions. You will have a broad knowledge base, an eagerness to learn, and the ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively.

  • Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including Availability Groups and Replication.
  • Proven experience with MySQL, particularly Galera Clusters.
  • Expertise in database design and performance tuning.
  • Hands-on experience with firewall, networking, and VPN configuration.
  • Familiarity with virtualisation, vCenter, and vSphere.
  • Experience with Neo4J Graph Database and cloud technologies.
  • Knowledge of Linux and Ubuntu operating systems.
  • Experience with Active Directory administration.
  • Familiarity with IoT protocols (MQTT, LoRaWAN) and hardware (servers, desktops, mobile phones).
  • Ability to document methods and procedures.
