Job description

  • To design, develop and deliver high-quality Power BI dashboards, data models and reporting solutions that support NUVIA’s operational, technical and commercial decision-making.
  • To act as a technical specialist in business intelligence within a highly regulated nuclear environment, becoming a recognised point of expertise for data visualisation, reporting and analytics.
  • To support project teams by producing secure, accurate and compliant reporting outputs that meet client requirements, regulatory expectations, and NUVIA’s internal governance standards.
  • To contribute to the delivery of analytics projects across nuclear facilities, engineering programmes and operational environments.
  • Projects may be delivered from the UK or internationally and are typically overseen by an appointed Project Manager.

Reports to, * Develop a strong understanding of nuclear industry data, operational processes and reporting requirements.

  • Build, test and deploy Power BI dashboards, data models, paginated reports and automated reporting solutions.
  • Work with stakeholders to define reporting requirements, translating complex data needs into user-friendly visual outputs.
  • Maintain and improve datasets, dataflows, pipelines and ETL processes using Power BI, Power Query, SQL and related tools.
  • Liaise with clients and internal teams, deputising for technical specialists when required.
  • Ensure all reporting outputs comply with nuclear sector expectations for accuracy, traceability, security and data governance.
  • Review and validate the work of other team members where appropriate.
  • Produce technical documentation, specifications and operational manuals for review by specialists or clients.
  • Identify new opportunities to improve data insights across projects, functions or client engagements.
  • Contribute to tendering, proposal writing and technical input for data and BI-related bids.
  • Continually develop personal specialist skills in Power BI, data visualisation and data engineering.
  • Support and contribute to a culture of quality, safety and collaborative working.

Requirements

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in a data, IT, mathematics, science, engineering or related discipline.

Strong working knowledge of:

  • Power BI Desktop & Power BI Service
  • DAX, Power Query (M language)
  • SQL and relevant database structures
  • Reporting governance, version control and documentation
  • Experience working in, or willingness to work in, a highly regulated sector (ideally nuclear, defence, aerospace, or energy).
  • Experience working within the nuclear sector.
  • Familiarity with engineering data systems, asset management data or safety case data.
  • Experience with Power Automate, Azure data tools, Python, or R.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Duties and Requirements

  • Proven experience producing Power BI dashboards and technical reports, with the ability to explain insights clearly.
  • Experience working with technical data, engineering data, operational data or safety/environmental datasets is desirable.
  • Demonstrable experience applying best-practice data modelling principles.
  • Experience working as a SQEP (Suitably Qualified and Experienced Person) is an advantage; equivalent industry experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
  • Minimum of two years’ relevant industrial or technical experience in a BI, data analyst, data engineer, or reporting role.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to produce high-quality documentation for client and regulatory audiences.
  • Knowledge of data security, data classification and information governance (particularly within regulated environments).
