Job description
We’re looking for Embedded Software Engineers on behalf of a global leader in high-integrity, safety-critical embedded systems to join their expert team in Bristol. You’ll play a key role in developing and enhancing their cutting-edge embedded software suite, including our industry-leading real-time operating system, SAFERTOS. Work on exciting projects for clients ranging from innovative startups to world-renowned tech giants.
The Bristol-based division is the group’s hub for designing safety-critical embedded systems, fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and excellence.
This will be a hybrid role with a minimum of 3 days per week in the office, it will be 4 days during probation. The office is based in Bristol, candidates should live within a reasonable commuting distance.
What you’ll be doing:
- Develop and optimise SAFERTOS, including porting to various processor architectures.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 26262).
- Create high-quality design and testing documentation.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions for global clients.
Requirements
- Proficiency in C and assembly languages.
- Hands-on experience in embedded systems design.
- Familiarity with software development in controlled environments.
- Degree in Engineering, Science, or Mathematics.
- Knowledge of Real-Time Operating Systems (e.g., FreeRTOS, SAFERTOS).
- Low-level embedded engineering experience (e.g., Cortex M3/M4, A7).
- Familiarity with safety-critical standards (e.g., DO-178B/C, IEC 62304).
- Understanding of networking protocols (TCP, UDP) or embedded software security.
- Experience with ARM, MIPS, or Power architectures.
