Job description

We’re obsessed with making hard work pay off, for our people, our customers, and the world around us. As a Fortune 500 company and a leading AI platform for managing people, money, and agents, we’re shaping the future of work so teams can reach their potential and focus on what matters most. The minute you join, you’ll feel it. Not just in the products we build, but in how we show up for each other. Our culture is rooted in integrity, empathy, and shared enthusiasm. We’re in this together, tackling big challenges with bold ideas and genuine care. We look for curious minds and courageous collaborators who bring sun-drenched optimism and drive. Whether you’re building smarter solutions, supporting customers, or creating a space where everyone belongs, you’ll do meaningful work with Workmates who’ve got your back. In return, we’ll give you the trust to take risks, the tools to grow, the skills to develop and the support of a company invested in you for the long haul. So, if you want to inspire a brighter work day for everyone, including yourself, you’ve found a match in Workday, and we hope to be a match for you too.

About The Team

Are you a collaborative, analytical, and business-minded Data Scientist who enjoys optimizing complex enterprise systems? Our Deployment Technology team builds the next generation of enterprise tooling to make the migration, configuration, and adoption of Workday features as quick, seamless, and reliable as possible for our customers and implementation partners. We are a dynamic, supportive team that values innovation, continuous delivery, and high-quality data products. If you want to use advanced analytics to help thousands of global enterprises transition smoothly to Workday, we would love to connect with you.

About The Role

Are you a thoughtful, critical thinker who enjoys taking on the unique challenges presented by data migrations and configuration movement across distributed systems?

As a Data Scientist in Deployment Technology, you will look deeply at how our deployment and migration products are performing, identify opportunities for pipeline optimization, and translate complex technical metrics into meaningful narratives.

In this role, you will design living dashboards in Tableau for strategic consumption by leadership, help frame and advocate for our organization’s most impactful AI/ML opportunities and mentor team members. You will bridge the gap between our technical stats warehouse and data-driven product decisions, helping our deployment tools scale seamlessly.

What you will do:

  • Optimize Performance: Analyze product performance, migration logs, and system data to uncover trends and discover opportunities for architectural and workflow improvements.
  • Explore AI Opportunities: Scope, prioritize, and advocate for our most promising AI and Machine Learning opportunities to introduce intelligent automation into the deployment and data migration lifecycle.
  • Strategic Visualization: Design, build, and maintain high-impact, living dashboards in Tableau to communicate deployment health and product performance clearly to leadership and engineering stakeholders.
  • Data Modeling & Exploration: Extract and model data from our stats warehouse and NoSQL environments, utilizing Jupyter Notebooks to prototype predictive models and run advanced statistical analyses.
  • Drive Informed Decisions: Partner closely with Product Management and Engineering leaders to support product hypotheses with rigorous statistical evidence and data-backed storytelling.
  • Promote Best Practices: Follow agile methodologies and standard software development practices, contributing to high-quality documentation, robust version control, and rigorous QA for all data products.
  • Collaborate & Mentor: Cultivate a culture of continuous learning by mentoring team members, sharing technical insights, and collaborating across broader Workday teams.

Requirements

  • 5 years of hands-on experience in Data Science, advanced product analytics, or statistical modeling.
  • 5 years of experience utilizing data-focused programming languages and writing advanced SQL queries.
  • Demonstrated success building and maintaining functional visualization solutions in Tableau.
  • Strong experience working with Data Warehousing (DW) architectures, stats warehouses, and diverse data lake formats., * Deep understanding of statistics, data modeling, and experimental design (hypothesis testing, regression, time-series).
  • Practical proficiency with Machine Learning, Deep Learning, or NLP frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, NLTK).
  • Familiarity with software development lifecycle concepts, including Git source control, Object-Oriented Design (OOD), CI/CD, and Docker containerization.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation abilities, with a natural talent for explaining complex technical data to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and team mentoring skills.
  • Motivated to make a positive, scalable difference with the team and with the company.

About the company

With Flex Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work. We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role). This means you’ll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote “home office” roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.

Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is an Equal Opportunity Employer including individuals with disabilities and protected veterans.

Workday is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals during our application process, in order to perform one or more essential functions of their job, as well as regarding the use of AI tools for employment decision-making to any degree.
