Job description

The Department of Design & Construction, Division of Infrastructure, is currently seeking Design Engineers to join various sections within the Design Unit - Various. The successful candidates will report to an Engineer-In-Charge and will be responsible for preparing contract documents, specifications, and final estimates; conducting engineering investigations; and developing contract plans and working drawings. Additionally, the candidates will conduct field surveys to assess current conditions, compile reports, participate in engineering reviews and studies, and design projects with minimal oversight. Please note: All candidates must be currently authorized to work full-time in the United States (U.S.). In compliance with Public Law 99-603, candidates are required to present original documents proving citizenship or the legal right to work in the U.S. DDC is unable to support or sponsor any visa application or visa extension, including but not limited to OPT/STEM visas, H-1B visas, F-1 practical training, permanent residence sponsorship, or any proposed change of visa type. Requirements

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or
  2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master’s degree from an accredited college in civil engineering. Preferred Skills Please note the following preferred skills for this position: 1.Outstanding verbal and written communication skills 2.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and AutoCAD 3. Construction knowledge relevant to infrastructure projects (sewers, water mains, roadways) 4. Familiarity with NYC DOT, NYS DOT, NYC DEP specifications, MUTCD, and AASHTO standards 5. Comprehensive understanding of the NYC infrastructure system and current engineering practices 6. Proficiency in Primavera P6 scheduling and Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP) credential (preferred) 7. Valid driver’s license (required) 8. Personal vehicle (optional)
