Database Architect | EU Institutions Project

We want you to be part of our team in Brussels, working onsite, as a Database Architect.

WHAT WILL YOU DO IN YOUR DAY-TO-DAY?

• Analyse data requirements and design robust data models.
• Design, implement, maintain, and integrate relational and NoSQL databases.
• Reverse-engineer existing databases and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop and maintain database components and integrations with other systems.
• Define naming conventions, coding standards, and database development best practices.
• Prepare and execute database test programs, including PL/SQL unit testing.
• Produce clear technical documentation, architecture documents, and audit reports.
• Support system deployment, configuration, and release management activities.
• Troubleshoot database issues and optimise performance, security, and reliability.
• Carry out technical evaluations, database audits, and risk analyses.
• Contribute to master data management and data governance activities.
• Participate in project meetings and collaborate with business and technical stakeholders.
• Present technical solutions and architectural recommendations to different audiences.
• Work closely with DevSecOps and Agile delivery teams.
• Use tools such as GitHub, Atlassian products, and ServiceNow throughout the software development lifecycle.

• 1 to 15 years of relevant professional experience in database architecture, database engineering, or a similar role.
• Strong experience in data modelling, database design, implementation, integration, reverse engineering, troubleshooting, optimisation, and release management.
• Advanced knowledge of relational databases, especially Oracle, and NoSQL databases such as DynamoDB, MongoDB, and Cassandra.
• Strong command of SQL, PL/SQL, MQL, and CQL, including PL/SQL unit testing.
• Experience with database development best practices, naming conventions, coding standards, master data management, database security, technical audits, and risk analysis.
• Practical experience with data modelling and development tools such as SQL Developer Data Modeler, Hackolade, NoSQL Workbench, and Oracle SQL Developer.
• Good knowledge of the software development lifecycle, including deployment, configuration, testing, documentation, and database component integration.
• Experience with Atlassian tools, GitHub, and ServiceNow.
• Experience working with PM², PM² Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
• Ability to produce clear technical and non-technical documentation and deliver high-level and technical presentations.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with business and technical audiences in an international, multicultural environment.
• Ability to apply high quality standards and adapt to fast-changing database technologies.
