Job description

As our business continues to grow, we are looking to appoint an experienced Junior IT Support Analyst to join our team at our Blackburn head office.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who already has practical IT support experience and is now looking to develop their career within a fast-paced commercial property business.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day IT support to the company’s directors, senior management team and wider workforce. The role will involve resolving technical issues, setting up equipment and user accounts, supporting Microsoft 365 applications, managing IT records and coordinating with external IT providers where necessary.

We are looking for someone who is technically capable, professional, organised and comfortable supporting senior members of the business. You must be able to take ownership of issues, communicate clearly with non-technical users and ensure problems are followed through to resolution.

The Role

You will provide first-line and general IT support across the business, assisting colleagues with hardware, software, user access, connectivity and equipment issues.

A key part of the role will be supporting the directors and senior management team with their day-to-day IT requirements, including laptops, mobile devices, email, Microsoft 365, meetings, presentations and remote access.

As the business manages shopping centres and commercial properties across the UK, you will also provide remote support to employees based at different locations and work with external IT providers, software suppliers and contractors where more specialist assistance is required.

Your responsibilities will include:

Providing day-to-day IT support to directors, senior managers and employees across the business.

Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, printing, email, connectivity and general system issues.

Setting up and configuring laptops, desktop computers, mobile phones, printers and other office equipment.

Creating and managing user accounts, email accounts, passwords, permissions and system access.

Supporting Microsoft 365 applications, including Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, OneDrive and SharePoint.

Preparing equipment, accounts and system access for new starters.

Removing access and recovering company equipment when employees leave the business.

Installing approved software and ensuring devices are properly configured and kept up to date.

Maintaining accurate records of laptops, mobile phones, software licences, equipment, users and system access.

Providing support with meeting-room technology, video conferencing, presentations and remote meetings.

Assisting directors and senior employees with urgent, confidential or time-sensitive IT matters.

Providing remote support to employees working at shopping centres and other company locations.

Escalating more complex technical issues to external IT support providers and monitoring them through to completion.

Liaising with IT suppliers, telecoms providers, software providers and equipment suppliers.

Assisting with the purchase and replacement of laptops, phones, screens, printers and other IT equipment.

Supporting cyber-security procedures, including password security, phishing awareness, access controls and the safe handling of company information.

Helping investigate suspicious emails, login issues and potential security concerns.

Assisting with system upgrades, equipment replacements, software changes and other IT projects.

Supporting the introduction of new systems and helping employees understand how to use them effectively.

Carrying out general administrative duties relating to IT, systems and office operations.

Requirements

Previous practical experience working in an IT support, helpdesk, service desk, desktop support or similar technical role.

Experience providing first-line IT support to users and resolving common hardware and software issues.

Good working knowledge of Microsoft 365, particularly Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, OneDrive and SharePoint.

Experience setting up laptops, desktop computers, mobile phones, printers and user accounts.

A good understanding of Windows-based computers and common office technology.

Basic knowledge of computer networks, Wi-Fi, user permissions, passwords, remote access and device security.

Experience dealing with external IT support providers or escalating more complex technical issues.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to investigate issues logically.

Good organisational skills and the ability to manage several support requests at the same time.

Excellent communication skills and the confidence to support directors, senior managers and employees with different levels of technical knowledge.

A professional, patient and approachable manner.

The ability to handle confidential and commercially sensitive information appropriately.

A proactive attitude and willingness to take responsibility for resolving issues.

The ability to work from our Blackburn office on a full-time basis.

Desirable

Experience working within the property, commercial property, facilities management or shopping centre sector.

Experience supporting users across multiple business locations.

Knowledge of Microsoft Entra ID, Active Directory or user administration within Microsoft 365.

Experience with SharePoint administration, mobile device management or endpoint security.

An IT-related qualification, such as CompTIA, Microsoft certification, BTEC, apprenticeship or similar.

Experience maintaining IT asset registers and software licence records.

Experience supporting business mobile phones, telecoms systems or meeting-room technology.

A full UK driving licence would be advantageous due to the company’s portfolio of properties.
