Senior DevOps Engineer

When you join us as Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the stability, reliability and efficiency of our IT infrastructure, and focus on enabling seamless integration and continuous delivery of our software products. We’re currently going through an exciting period of transformation, so you’ll have the opportunity to shape the digital tools we need to support front line delivery, expand the scope of some of our existing platforms, build an expanded product function and identify efficiencies in existing processes.

Working in an integrated delivery environment, you’ll collaborate closely with policy and operational teams as you form a complete DevOps toolchain, ensuring seamless integration and the continuous delivery of software products. Defining, analysing, planning, forecasting, measuring, maintaining and improving all aspects of the availability of the services we provide, we’ll also expect you to optimise development processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness, and ensure adherence to modern development standards and best practices.

Additional tasks will include maintaining the security, confidentiality and integrity of information systems, writing software that automates systems and reduces manual intervention, and helping to ensure alignment and effective communication throughout the software development lifecycle. We’ll also expect you to identify, diagnose and resolve issues within the IT infrastructure, and provide inspirational guidance and mentorship to our Junior DevOps engineers while fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.

To be a success in this vital role you should possess advanced knowledge of programming languages, the ability to write code and script such as PowerShell, Cloud Shell, Terraform, Bicep and YAML, and have well developed experience of managing cloud environments, particularly with platforms like Azure. Highly proficient in the management of CI/CD tools and processes such as GitHub or Azure DevOps, and associated automated build and deployment processes, we’ll also look for hands-on experience of infrastructure management, including virtualisation, firewalls, switches and networks.

It goes without saying that you’ll have plenty of experience in the development and maintenance of automation solutions for development, testing and production environments. You should also possess the skills to design, maintain and document system architecture, and have good knowledge relating to the maintenance of the security, confidentiality and integrity of information systems through compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.

Salary: London - £46,000 with a location allowance of £5,000 pa. Milton Keynes - £46,000 with a location allowance of £1,750 pa. East Kilbride - £46,000.

A specialist allowance of up to £1,000 pa may be offered based on skills and experience.

Hours: Full time. You’ll be required to work in line with our policies on hybrid working (minimum 60% in the office)
