Senior AI Engineer

Experteer Overview In this role you will shape and deliver WTW’s enterprise-wide AI engineering capability, serving as a senior technical advisor to cross-functional teams. You will define engineering direction, establish reusable patterns and reference implementations to enable safe, scalable AI solutions. You’ll work closely with Architecture, Information Security, and business users to embed governance and security by design while driving measurable business outcomes. This is a hands-on, strategic leadership role focused on production-grade generative AI and agentic systems at scale, with end-to-end ownership of central AI capabilities. Pay / Benefits * Shape design, build and support of central AI engineering frameworks to provide reusable foundations for lines of business * Define technical direction for production-grade generative AI and agentic solutions across platforms and model providers * Establish shared patterns, reference architectures, SDKs and reusable components to accelerate safe AI adoption * Advise lines of business on use cases, translating needs into secure, scalable AI solution patterns * Embed governance and security controls into the AI platform by design with Architecture and Information Security * Build and operate context engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and agent orchestration capabilities * Define and implement LLMOps practices including evaluation, testing, versioning and observability * Serve as escalation point for AI services, lead root cause analysis and remediation * Influence adoption of AI capabilities across teams and business lines * Create and govern technical documentation and runbooks for central AI frameworks * Identify opportunities for engineering and operational improvements and lead initiatives * Mentor AI engineers and set engineering standards for central frameworks * Evaluate emerging AI technologies and define adoption roadmaps * Maintain strong information security and responsible AI posture * Engage with business users to validate AI solutions and ensure real business value Tasks * Extensive hands-on experience building and supporting production generative AI in large enterprises * Deep specialty in generative AI, agentic systems, model-provider ecosystems and enterprise patterns * Experience designing and deploying AI agents on enterprise platforms and connectors * Hands-on API integration with LLMs including governance and tool use * Strong fundamentals in prompt engineering, context design, RAG, embeddings and multi-agent patterns * Proficiency in Python and/or C#/.NET with secure, well-tested APIs * Experience building scalable distributed systems and production services * Experience with cloud-based AI, data, identity and governance services (Azure AI/OpenAI, Entra ID, Purview, Graph) * LLMOps practices including evaluation, testing, guardrails, versioning, monitoring and cost management * Knowledge of AI governance, data protection, identity and access management, content safety and risk management * Familiarity with EU AI Act and NIST AI RMF and translating requirements into controls * DevOps and automation experience (CI/CD, IaC, source control) * Strong analytical and judgment skills for complex, ambiguous challenges * Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills * Experience translating workflow needs into AI designs with measurable business value * Proven technical leadership through mentoring and influence across teams * Proactive, improvement-focused mindset in evolving environments Key requirements * 25 days of annual leave + WTW day * private healthcare * life insurance * group income protection * pension with up to 10% company match * hybrid working options and EAP
