Job description

The Engineering Manager, Developer PlatformDeveloper Experience leads a high-impact team focused on building and improving internal developer platforms and tooling. This hands-on, player-coach role blends technical contribution with people leadership, owning the roadmap and driving initiatives that enhance developer productivity, experience, and efficiency. The role sets strategic direction across platform and experience domains, partners with architecture and engineering leadership, and delivers measurable improvements in developer velocity, quality, and satisfaction., * Lead and manage a small team of engineers across Developer Platform and Developer Experience

  • Conduct 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development planning to support team growth
  • Hire, onboard, and build a high-performing, collaborative engineering team
  • Set clear expectations, provide direct feedback, and address performance issues effectively
  • Own and prioritize the roadmap across platform and developer experience initiatives (IDP, IaC, CI/CD, observability, AI tooling)
  • Translate organizational goals into actionable deliverables and measurable outcomes for the team
  • Partner with architecture, engineering, and product leaders to align platform strategy with business priorities
  • Communicate roadmap progress, risks, and tradeoffs to leadership and stakeholders
  • Contribute hands-on through coding, architecture design, PR reviews, and technical guidance
  • Maintain technical depth to support sound decision-making and step into complex technical challenges when needed
  • Drive delivery of internal developer platform capabilities, shared tooling, and CI/CD solutions
  • Promote adoption of AI development tools and establish metrics (e.g., DORA, DX) to improve developer productivity and experience
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with architecture, security, and engineering teams to ensure platform effectiveness
  • Lead enablement efforts such as demos, office hours, and knowledge sharing to increase adoption and impact

Requirements

Do you have experience in Tooling?, * 8+ years of professional software engineering experience

  • 2+ years of direct people management or equivalent technical leadership with coaching responsibilities
  • Proven ability to lead while remaining hands-on as an individual contributor
  • Experience owning and delivering against a technical roadmap
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently address complex challenges
  • Proficiency in C#/.NET, Azure, and Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform)
  • Experience designing and managing CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Strong architectural and technical decision-making experience at the team or platform level
  • Demonstrated people leadership skills, including coaching, performance management, and hiring
  • Experience with modern engineering practices and tools, including developer platforms, AI-assisted development, distributed systems, and productivity frameworks (e.g., DORA), * MCP (Model Context Protocol) and agentic developer workflows
  • Observability platforms (OpenTelemetry, Application Insights, Datadog, or similar)
  • Security tooling integration (GitHub Advanced Security, SonarQube, or similar)
  • Leading a transition from one CI/CD platform to another (Azure DevOps to GitHub, or similar)
  • Public speaking, internal evangelism, or external technical thought leadership
  • Contributing to or maintaining open-source platform tooling
