Data Centers Data Loss

Job description

We clean data centers - the rooms full of servers that run critical operations for our federal customers. This is not office cleaning. Dust in a data center causes equipment overheating, circuit failure, and data loss, so the work is done to a measured standard using HEPA filtration, anti-static materials, and strict protocols for working around live equipment.

You’ll work inside secure federal facilities on a small, disciplined crew. We train and certify you. If you’re detail-oriented, comfortable following exacting procedures, and want a cleaning career that pays better than commercial janitorial, this is that path.

What you’ll do

  • Perform deep cleaning across three zones of the data center: the underfloor plenum beneath the raised floor, the main data center space, and the above-ceiling plenum
  • Lift and replace raised floor tiles using proper tools and technique, and vacuum subfloor areas, stringers, pedestals, cable trays, and conduits
  • Operate HEPA-filtered, triple-filtration vacuums rated to capture 99.97% of particles at 0.3 microns
  • Wipe down surfaces, cabinets, ceiling grid, light lenses, air deflectors, and sprinkler covers using approved lint-free, anti-static materials
  • Damp mop and scrub raised floor tile with pH-neutral, static-dissipative cleaners; strip and refinish flooring as scheduled
  • Remove and clean perforated floor panels and cable cut-out panels
  • Work from fiberglass step ladders to clean overhead cable trays and above-ceiling areas
  • Follow strict protocols around energized racks, cabling, fire suppression, and sprinkler systems
  • Support particle count testing and post-cleaning documentation
  • Maintain equipment, complete daily documentation, and report any incident, damage, or security concern immediately, DCCS Data Centre Cleaning Specialist certification (valid 3 years)
  • DCCS/ISO module covering ISO 14644-1 Class 8 cleanliness verification
  • OSHA/HAZCOM compliance training
  • Site-specific data center access and safety training

Requirements

Valid REAL ID-compliant driver’s license, U.S. passport, or Enhanced Driver’s License

  • Ability to pass a background investigation and obtain site access approval
  • Ability to pass a drug screen. Note: this worksite prohibits marijuana regardless of Virginia state law.

Experience and skills

  • 1+ year in commercial cleaning, facilities, custodial, or a related trade
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow written procedures exactly - this job rewards people who do it the same way every time
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality; the work window is fixed and access is escorted
  • Comfortable working in a quiet, monitored, rules-heavy environment

  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs, including raised floor tiles using a tile lifter
  • Frequent kneeling, crouching, bending, and reaching overhead
  • Work from step ladders for extended periods
  • Extended standing and walking; work in confined underfloor and above-ceiling spaces

Strongly preferred

  • Active TS/SCI clearance, especially with CI polygraph - significant pay premium
  • Prior experience in data centers, server rooms, cleanrooms, hospitals, laboratories, or other controlled environments
  • Prior work in secure or badged federal facilities
  • DCCS (Certified Data Centre Cleaning Specialist) certification
  • OSHA 10 or 30, and HAZCOM training
  • Experience with floor stripping and refinishing
  • Experience with ESD-safe protocols or anti-static procedures
