Job description
London Business School is seeking a Database Manager to play a key role in enabling effective alumni engagement and philanthropic activity through high-quality data, systems and insight. This role sits within the Advancement team and focuses on maximising the value of our core fundraising and alumni database (currently Raiserās Edge) to support strategic growth and engagement.
You will work closely with colleagues across Advancement to ensure our data systems are robust, well-governed and easy to use, enabling teams to build meaningful, life-long relationships with alumni, donors and supporters.
You will provide end-to-end database capability to support the Advancement department and wider School community. You will manage system configuration, data quality, reporting and user support, ensuring colleagues can confidently use data and fundraising tools to deliver their objectives.
A key part of the role is supporting and developing colleagues through training and guidance, acting as a subject-matter expert on Raiserās Edge and related systems, and helping shape future system enhancements as the departmentās needs evolve.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain the Advancement database (currently Raiserās Edge), ensuring data accuracy, integrity and effective use.
- Deliver database training and documentation for new and existing users, including ongoing ātop upā training.
- Analyse changing requirements and support system upgrades and enhancements in collaboration with the Head of Data.
- Provide reporting and ad hoc data analysis to support fundraising, engagement and decision making.
- Act as the first point of contact for complex data issues, identifying problems, proposing solutions and maintaining issue logs.
- Support data governance, data privacy and information security in line with School policies and committee requirements.
- Mentor and support the Data Coordinator, enabling skills development and timely data provision across Advancement.
- Contribute to School wide information systems initiatives, including data maturity improvements.
Requirements
- Experience working with relational databases, ideally within a fundraising or CRM environment (e.g. Raiserās Edge).
- Experience of database requirements analysis, upgrades or system improvements.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate reports.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with confidence delivering training to diverse audiences.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills; knowledge of query tools such as SQL is desirable.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage confidential or sensitive data.
- Ability to prioritise work effectively and operate with a high level of autonomy.
- A collaborative, customer focused approach and strong relationship building skills.
