Job description

Uber is looking for an expert Engineering Manager to lead a team within our Container Platform Infrastructure group. As a manager within Infrastructure, you will have a significant impact on the evolution of backend teams and architecture at Uber. Our mission is to make transportation as reliable as possible, and we are looking for a passionate manager to build a dependable foundation that supports that vision.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of significant experience building scalable, fault-tolerant, and robust products and platforms. Including 5+ years in managing engineering teams of 10+ people
  • Ability to lead teams in Amsterdam and collaborate with stakeholder and sister teams in the US
  • Ability to attract talent in Amsterdam by setting the standard for excellence
  • Good judgment about shipping as fast as possible while still making sure that products are built in a sustainable, responsible way - and you’re comfortable making mistakes, provided you and your team learn from them
  • Technical strength and deep knowledge of the whole stack to give phenomenal architecture and implementation mentorship to the teams who will count on your experience
  • Ability to set the team up for success through mentoring, teaching, and reviewing
  • Dedication towards keeping the Uber experience consistent for users and striving to make any issues invisible to riders
  • Ability to jump in and take ownership of problems that may not even be in your team’s scope
