Job description

As Head of Quality & Governance, you will lead the development and implementation of a robust quality, governance and compliance framework across Practice Plus Group’s Integrated Urgent Care (IUC) services, ensuring safe, effective and patient-centred care.

Our IUC services operate across England and include GP Practices, GP Out of Hours, Clinical Assessment Services and NHS 111 services. Working closely with CQC Registered Managers, the Senior Management Team and key clinical, operational and financial leaders, you will drive quality improvement, patient safety and regulatory compliance while supporting the delivery of our strategic objectives.

You will provide expert leadership across governance, risk and assurance, supported by the Head of Governance, Patient Safety Managers and specialist committees covering areas such as Information Governance, Infection Prevention & Control, Professional Standards and Medicines Management.

The role also involves building strong relationships with external stakeholders, including NHS England commissioners, healthcare partners, subcontractors and the Care Quality Commission (CQC), helping to ensure our services consistently meet the highest standards of quality and care.

What you’ll be doing

Regulatory: Lead regulatory compliance across IUC services, ensuring adherence to NHSE, CQC and Duty of Candour requirements, embedding standards, supporting training, and maintaining inspection readiness.

Quality: Oversee the quality and patient safety framework, monitoring performance, incidents, complaints and feedback, leading PSIRF/PSIRP delivery, reporting quality metrics, and driving continuous improvement and governance assurance.

Risk: Lead the identification, assessment and management of strategic, operational and clinical risks, maintaining risk registers and ensuring effective mitigation plans are implemented across services.

Management: Provide leadership, line management and professional development for the Patient Safety team, ensuring a high-performing and effective governance function.

Business Development: Support business growth by contributing governance expertise to tender responses, service development and mobilisation activities, ensuring compliance and quality are embedded from inception.

Requirements

Experience managing quality assurance, compliance frameworks and governance processes to support strategic, national and local organisational objectives.

Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills, including experience supervising and managing others, delegating effectively, influencing without direct authority, negotiating outcomes, and building collaborative working relationships.

Excellent communication and presentation abilities, with strong verbal, written, facilitation and report-writing skills, alongside the ability to handle highly sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.

Analytical, organisational and technical proficiency, with experience in data management, analysis, interpretation and reporting, advanced MS Office skills, project management experience, and the ability to prioritise workloads and meet competing deadlines under pressure.

Benefits & conditions

Please note that offers of employment are subject to receipt of satisfactory references and a DBS check.

Practice Plus Group is committed to creating a diverse environment and we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
