Job description

The purpose of this position is to support the technical architecture of GenTax, a Commercial Off-the-Shelf product which is New Mexico’s tax system of record. This includes supporting the GenTax Bureau’s application development team, developing and/or maintaining complex application development systems, working with GenTax leadership on system and security architecture, and coordinating with NM Taxation and Revenue Department stakeholders and users on system upgrades and production support issues. How does it get done?

This position will:

  • Lead or assist in leading programs to develop, maintain, and govern the IT architecture across GenTax, the tax system of record for New Mexico.
  • Lead and coordinate the domain technical and business discussions on future architecture direction.
  • Support, develop, and communicate architectural policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Align GenTax architectural requirements with IT strategy and ensures compatibility with existing solutions, infrastructure, services, and strategic requirements.
  • Coordinate architecture implementation and modification activities.
  • Analyze the current GenTax, system, and security architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvements.
  • Consult on application and infrastructure development projects to fit systems or infrastructure to the technical architecture of GenTax.
  • Keep technology and service/program managers aware of key issues, identifying and resolving potential problems and conflicts.
  • Lead the research and evaluation of emerging technology, industry, and market trends to assist in project development and/or operational support activities while evaluating potential impact to

GenTax architecture. Collaborate with project management on reporting project status, issues, risks, and benefits.

  • Develop and/or maintain complex application development systems within the GenTax bureau.
  • Assist in agency security and compliance audits.

Who are the customers?

The customers include internal Taxation and Revenue Department users of the GenTax system as well as the taxpayers of any of the 45 tax programs supported in the GenTax system.

Requirements

Do you have a valid Driver’s License license?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), or Information Technology and six (6) years of experience in two (2) or more of the following areas: strategic planning, business analytics, applications development, networking, data management, IT Security (INFOSEC), or Systems Administration. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling ten (10) years may substitute for the required education and experience. Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification within six (6) months of date of hire as a condition of continued employment. Must be current with all tax reporting/payment. Employment is subject to post offer pre-employment criminal background check to include fingerprint checks and is conditional pending results. Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some In-state travel may be required. Supplemental Information
