Job description
talentED recruiters are working with an established Essex-based business to recruit a .NET Developer for its in-house technology team.
Technology plays a central role in the organisation’s day-to-day operation. Its internal and customer-facing systems support product information, pricing, stock management, customer and supplier integrations, order processing, reporting and online content.
You will help develop, maintain and improve a range of business-critical software, including web applications, public APIs, SQL Server databases, data integrations and background services.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated developer who enjoys solving practical business problems and wants exposure to a varied range of systems and technologies.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing and maintaining applications using C# and .NET
- Building and improving internal business applications
- Creating, maintaining and troubleshooting REST APIs
- Working with SQL Server and Entity Framework Core
- Supporting product, pricing, stock, customer and order data
- Integrating supplier and customer APIs and data feeds
- Working with structured data formats including JSON, XML and CSV
- Investigating bugs, data issues, integration errors and performance problems
- Maintaining and improving existing platforms alongside new development
- Working with technical and non-technical colleagues to understand requirements
- Explaining technical issues clearly and delivering practical solutions
Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Commercial development experience using C# and .NET
- A good understanding of object-oriented programming
- Knowledge of web development fundamentals, including HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Experience querying relational databases using SQL
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- The ability to investigate technical issues logically
- Clear communication skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- A willingness to learn new technologies and improve existing systems
Desirable experience
Experience with any of the following would be beneficial, although applicants are not expected to have worked with every technology listed:
- Modern .NET or .NET Core
- Entity Framework Core
- Blazor Server
- Building or consuming REST APIs
- SQL Server
- Stored procedures, indexing or database performance optimisation
- Third-party system or data-feed integrations
- Umbraco or another content management system
- IIS, Windows Server or software deployment
- Background services, caching or CDN-based systems
- jQuery or SCSS
