Job description

Avalon Artificial Intelligence Limited is looking for a Platform Engineer to support the deployment, operation and ongoing maintenance of our Avalon Sentinel Suite across new and existing customer environments.

This is a hands-on role combining DevOps, platform engineering, deployment automation and technical customer support. You will work closely with our software and AI engineering teams to ensure Sentinel can be deployed reliably, upgraded safely and supported efficiently across different customer environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deploy and configure the Avalon Sentinel Suite for new customers.
  • Support deployments across cloud, on-premise and customer-managed infrastructure.
  • Build, maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Automate installation, configuration, upgrades and release processes.
  • Manage application releases, versioning, rollback procedures and environment configurations.
  • Troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment and application issues affecting existing customers.
  • Provide remote technical support and assist with resolving production incidents.
  • Monitor deployed systems for availability, reliability, performance and stability.
  • Improve logging, monitoring, alerting and operational visibility.
  • Work with developers and AI engineers to move new features and releases safely into customer environments.
  • Maintain Docker/container-based application environments.
  • Support Kubernetes and container orchestration environments where applicable.
  • Manage configuration, secrets, networking, certificates and service connectivity.
  • Identify repetitive operational tasks and automate them.
  • Create and maintain deployment documentation, runbooks and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Help standardise Avalon deployments so that new customers can be onboarded quickly and consistently.
  • Investigate deployment failures and identify root causes rather than relying on temporary fixes.
  • Assist with infrastructure security, access controls, backups and operational best practices.

Requirements

We are looking for someone with practical experience in platform engineering, DevOps, cloud infrastructure or application deployment.

You should have experience with some of the following:

  • Linux
  • Docker and containerised applications
  • Kubernetes
  • CI/CD pipelines
  • Git and Git-based development workflows
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud
  • Infrastructure and deployment automation
  • Networking, DNS, SSL/TLS and reverse proxies
  • Monitoring and logging
  • Bash, Python or another scripting language
  • Troubleshooting distributed applications and production environments

Experience with tools such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Argo CD, Terraform, Ansible, Helm, Nginx, Prometheus or Grafana would be beneficial, although we do not expect candidates to have experience with every technology.

The Ideal Candidate

You will be someone who:

  • Enjoys solving real infrastructure and deployment problems.
  • Can investigate issues methodically and find the underlying cause.
  • Is comfortable working with both developers and customer environments.
  • Understands the importance of reliable and repeatable deployments.
  • Has a strong automation mindset.
  • Can work independently and take ownership of technical issues.
  • Communicates clearly when troubleshooting customer problems.
  • Understands that production reliability and security are as important as getting software deployed.
