Job description

We are committed to creating an environment where every team member feels included, respected, empowered and recognised., In this role, you will lead a team responsible for the architecture, development oversight, and lifecycle integrity of OrthoGrid system applications within the orthopaedic surgical domain. You will ensure that system-level design, verification strategies, and technical integration activities align with medical device regulatory standards, cybersecurity requirements, Artificial intelligence requirements, and global deployment expectations. The role drives architectural coherence across new product development, sustaining activities, and platform evolution while ensuring robust design controls and post-market technical support readiness. Collaborates cross-functionally and with external partners to achieve Zimmer Biomet’s quality and business objectives.

How You’ll Create Impact

  • Provides technical leadership and architectural oversight for Sustaining and NPI OrthoGrid products
  • Manages design authority activities from the RD side
  • Develops project roadmaps for OrthoGrid applications
  • Translates product requirements into system and subsystem specifications and interface definitions
  • Defines system-level verification, validation, and experimental strategies
  • Ensures end-to-end requirements traceability across all OrthoGrid product lifecycle
  • Conducts technical workload analysis and support prioritization across Sustaining and NPI teams
  • Ensures integrity and consistency of design control and risk management documentation within DHF systems (e.g., Codebeamer, Windchill)
  • Leads system-level design reviews and integration activities across hardware, software, and AI components
  • Leads integration of OrthoGrid development processes within the Zimmer Biomet QMS framework
  • Leads design transfer activities and release readiness (labelling, DMR, rollout strategy and cation plan etc.)
  • Collaborates with Research to evaluate and integrate new product features into the system architecture
  • Supports post-market investigations and technical resolutions for field issues and complaints
  • Leads and mentors team members, fostering technical excellence and process discipline
  • Drives continuous improvement of system development processes and tools

Requirements

  • Strong System Design experience in a multi-disciplinary organization
  • Experience in a highly regulated industry (pharmaceutical, aeronautics, medical)
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum development teams working with Confluence & Jira
  • Experience in orthopaedic/medical industry
  • Interest in high technological development
  • Strong problem - solving analytical and accurate judgment making skills
  • Strategic and systems-level thinking
  • Ability to work in ambiguity, obtain consensus, handle multiple priorities, and identify creative solutions to complex problems
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and deal with pressure
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
  • High level of personal accountability and integrity
  • Strong experience in identifying and mitigating risks associated with products
  • Ability to deal effectively with internal and external collaborators
  • Commitment to patient safety, product quality, and regulatory compliance

Your Background

  • Master’s or PhD in Engineering or related field
  • Experience with Class I or Class II
  • 8+ years of experience in the development of medical products and team management; demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both French and English
  • Proven track record of leading technical projects through full product lifecycle
  • Strong understanding of design controls, risk management, and regulatory compliance

Travel Expectations

  • Up to 20%
