Job description
As a Quality Assurance Tester at Upperdog, you will take ownership of quality assurance across the websites, digital platforms and technical work we deliver for clients.
This is not simply an end-of-project testing role. You will:
- Be involved throughout the production lifecycle, identifying potential issues before they become production problems.
- Create and execute structured test plans based on project requirements, technical specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Carry out functional, regression, responsive and cross-browser testing across our digital work.
- Investigate, reproduce and clearly document technical issues to support efficient resolution.
- Take ownership of pre-launch QA and help ensure work is ready to move confidently into production.
- Help develop and improve our QA processes, documentation and tooling as our technical capability grows.
- You will work closely with developers, designers, project managers, account managers and digital marketing specialists, acting as a trusted voice for quality and helping the whole team deliver better work., Website & Digital Product QA
- Test websites and digital experiences throughout the development lifecycle, from initial staging builds through to launch and post-launch support.
- Create and execute test plans based on project requirements, technical specifications and acceptance criteria.
- Carry out functional testing across websites, including navigation, forms, search, filtering, ecommerce journeys, user interactions and integrations.
- Perform regression testing following development changes, bug fixes and content updates.
- Test websites across major browsers, operating systems, screen sizes and devices.
- Test responsive behaviour across desktop, tablet and mobile experiences.
- Check website functionality against designs and agreed specifications, identifying visual and interaction inconsistencies.
- Test error states, validation messages, edge cases and unexpected user journeys.
- Carry out pre-launch checks and provide QA sign-off before websites move into production.
- Carry out post-launch testing to ensure websites continue to function correctly in the live environment.
Tracking, Analytics & Marketing Technology QA
- Test website tracking and analytics implementations, including Google Analytics 4, Google Tag Manager and conversion tracking.
- Verify that key user actions and conversions are being recorded correctly.
- Test marketing forms, lead submissions and integrations with CRM and other third-party systems.
- Validate tracking across different browsers, devices and user journeys.
- Work with digital marketing and development teams to investigate discrepancies between expected and actual tracking behaviour.
- Support QA of advertising and marketing technology integrations, including Google Ads, Meta and other third-party platforms where required.
- Help ensure technical implementations support accurate reporting and attribution.
- Bug Management & Technical Investigation
- Identify, reproduce and document bugs clearly, providing developers with enough information to investigate and resolve issues efficiently.
- Prioritise issues based on severity, user impact, risk and project deadlines.
- Retest fixes and confirm that resolving one issue has not introduced another.
- Use browser developer tools, console logs, network requests and other technical tools to investigate problems.
- Work closely with developers to understand the cause of issues and improve the quality of fixes.
- Maintain clear QA records and ensure outstanding issues are communicated to relevant project teams.
- Identify recurring issues and recommend improvements to development and production processes.
Process & QA Improvement
- Help establish and maintain consistent QA processes across the Technical Production team.
- Develop reusable test plans, checklists and QA documentation for different types of projects.
- Help improve our pre-launch and post-launch quality control processes.
- Identify opportunities to introduce automation where it can improve efficiency, reliability or test coverage.
- Contribute to the development of automated testing and QA tooling as the team’s technical capabilities grow.
- Help establish sensible QA standards across websites, tracking, integrations and technical production.
- Share knowledge with developers and wider production teams to improve quality across the agency., * You take ownership of QA across our digital projects.
- Issues are identified early and websites launch with fewer avoidable defects.
- Developers receive clear, actionable feedback.
- Tracking, integrations and key user journeys are tested confidently before release.
- QA processes and documentation become consistent and reusable across projects.

- You contribute to strengthening Upperdog’s overall technical production capability.
Requirements
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
- Have experience working in QA, software testing, website testing or a digital production environment.
- Have a strong understanding of how websites work and are comfortable investigating issues beyond simply identifying that something is broken.
- Are methodical and detail-oriented, with a natural tendency to question whether something works as it should.
- Understand the importance of testing against requirements, acceptance criteria, designs and the original client brief.
- Are comfortable using browser developer tools to investigate technical issues and provide useful information to developers.
- Can clearly document bugs, including steps to reproduce, expected behaviour and actual behaviour.
- Are comfortable working across multiple projects and managing competing priorities in a fast-paced agency environment.
- Approach QA collaboratively, recognising that quality is a shared responsibility across the production team.
- Communicate technical issues clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
- Are proactive and comfortable challenging requirements or highlighting potential issues early.
- Have a genuine interest in digital technology and enjoy understanding how things work., * 2+ years’ experience in QA, software testing, website testing, digital production or a similar role.
- Strong experience with manual functional and regression testing.
- Good understanding of HTML and CSS, with enough JavaScript knowledge to understand and investigate common front-end issues.
- Confident using Chrome DevTools or equivalent browser developer tools.
- Experience testing responsive websites across different browsers and devices.
- Experience using bug tracking or project management systems such as Jira, Smartsheet, Marker.io, Confluence or similar.
- Understanding of web forms, APIs, cookies, sessions and basic web requests.
- Experience testing analytics and tracking implementations, particularly GA4 and Google Tag Manager.
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to testing.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with developers, designers, project managers and marketing teams.
- Good understanding of software development and website production lifecycles.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise testing according to deadlines and risk.
Desirable
- Experience working in a digital agency or client-facing technical production environment.
- Experience testing WordPress, CMS and ecommerce websites.
- Familiarity with automated testing tools such as Playwright, Cypress or Selenium.
- Experience with API testing and third-party integrations.
- Strong understanding of GA4, Google Tag Manager and conversion tracking.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards, including WCAG.
- Experience with performance testing tools such as Lighthouse or PageSpeed Insights.
- Experience testing CRM integrations, lead generation journeys or marketing automation.
- Experience helping establish QA processes within a growing team., * development: 3 years (required)
