Job description
The Senior Manager, Global Process Controls & Automation provides strategic leadership for process control and automation across Celanese global manufacturing network. This role is responsible for advancing automation capabilities, establishing technical standards, and driving the implementation of process control solutions that improve safety, reliability, operational performance, and business results. LOCATION: Can be located in Manufacturing Site in the US Responsibilities:
- Develop, own, and drive the global Process Control Roadmap
- Support planning & Coordination of DCS, PLC, and process control system upgrades across all Celanese sites.
- Support corporate strategy to achieve excellence in digital manufacturing and transformation towards Industry 4.0 including Digitalization elements linked to DCS, Automation, and Alarm Mgt
- Provide strategic direction and technical guidance for control system modernization and upgrade projects.
- Lead and support a global team of Basic Process Control System (BPCS) and Process Control experts.
- Support control system upgrades for brownfield projects
- Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key process control, automation, and DCS suppliers.
- Apply expertise in major DCS and PLC platforms to evaluate and recommend optimal upgrade solutions.
- Lead the continued deployment and advancement of the company’s Alarm Management program.
- Prioritize and support execution of process control-related capital investment projects.
- Partner with senior leaders, site leadership, process control teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and successful execution of the global process control strategy.
- Provide expert troubleshooting support and technical leadership to resolve critical process control challenges across manufacturing sites.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical, or a related technical discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in the chemical, petrochemical, or related process manufacturing industries.
- Strong knowledge of DCS systems and industrial automation technologies, with the ability to evaluate and apply emerging solutions.
- Experience implementing process control systems, including application development, testing, commissioning, startup support, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of the business and operational drivers for automation and alarm management programs.
- Demonstrated financial acumen and experience supporting technology investments and deployment decisions.
- Ability to serve as both a hands-on technical expert and an effective leader of technical teams and initiatives.
- Proven ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior leadership and build alignment around implementation strategies and business objectives.
