Job description

This is a customer-facing, system-level role focused on platform firmware, bring-up, and debug, working across silicon, firmware, and operating system layers. You will act as a technical lead in supporting both go-to-market reference platforms and custom end-customer designs, helping partners accelerate platform readiness and reduce integration risk.

The role sits at the intersection of engineering and customer enablement, requiring strong technical depth, ownership, and proficiency in driving sophisticated issues to resolution across distributed teams.

Responsibilities:

Applications Engineering is a multifaceted, deeply technical role, where we will not only use our expertise but our social skills to support our partners through their technical challenges. The role offers a lot of opportunity and access and benefits a motivated person with initiative to use the role to help Arm and our partner succeed.

  • Serve as the primary technical interface for customers during their entire product lifecycle
  • Be the domain authority on Linux kernel and drivers
  • Perform hands-on debugging across firmware, silicon, and system-level issues, including multi-socket and interconnect configuration problems
  • Work closely with hardware teams to debug integration issues involving DDR, PCIe, and other high-speed interfaces
  • Track and lead customer issues with clear communication, prioritization, and handling critical issues, drive triage, root cause analysis and resolution in collaboration with internal Arm engineering teams
  • Deliver technical enablement through workshops, training sessions, and documentation
  • Collect key findings from customer engagements and foster them back into internal engineering and product development

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in silicon, firmware, or server platform development and bring-up
  • Strong hands-on experience in system bring-up and debug for sophisticated SoC-based platforms
  • Expertise in OS enablement in firmware (ACPI/Devicetree)
  • Experience with Linux bring-up and debugging, including boot logs, kernel parameters, and early boot diagnostics
  • Good understanding of server platform architecture, including CPU, memory, interconnect, and I/O subsystems
  • Familiarity with high-speed interfaces such as PCIe and DDR from software perspective
  • Strong customer-facing social skills with the ability to explain intricate technical issues clearly
  • Experience driving multi-functional collaboration and issue resolution in a global engineering environment

“Nice To Have” Skills and Experience :

  • Experience with multi-socket systems and coherency fabrics (e.g. CMN or similar architectures)
  • Familiarity with BMC / OpenBMC and system management flows
  • Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for debug and automation
  • Experience delivering technical training or customer workshops
  • Prior experience in a customer-facing engineering role (FAE/AE/System Integration)
