Job description
- Design and implement a comprehensive automated testing strategy for MuleSoft integrations.
- Build and maintain automated integration, API, regression, and end-to-end test suites.
- Build tests that specifically validate bidirectional data flow between Salesforce and external systems - including data transformation logic, retry behavior, and failure/edge-case handling.
- Identify gaps in existing test coverage and improve overall integration quality.
- Troubleshoot integration defects and perform root-cause analysis across Salesforce, MuleSoft, and downstream systems - using findings to close systemic gaps in test coverage, not just fix one-off bugs.
- Partner with Salesforce developers, MuleSoft developers, QA engineers, and product teams to ensure reliable deployments.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines to incorporate automated integration testing.
- Establish testing standards, best practices, and quality metrics (e.g., test coverage %, integration defect rate, MTTR) for enterprise integrations.
- Document testing patterns and coverage so the broader team can maintain and extend the suite going forward, rather than the knowledge sitting with one person.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience testing / developing MuleSoft integrations.
- Strong experience integrating Salesforce with external applications, including familiarity with Salesforce API types (REST, SOAP, Bulk, Platform Events) and how Salesforce-side triggers/flows can affect integration timing and behavior.
- Experience managing test data and environments for integration testing, including Salesforce sandbox environments and simulating external dependencies that are unavailable or unsafe to call in test
- Experience building automated API and integration tests (e.g., MUnit, Postman/Newman, REST Assured, Karate, or similar frameworks).
- Strong understanding of REST APIs, asynchronous messaging, authentication (OAuth), and error handling.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment processes.
- Ability to analyze complex cross-system issues and improve overall platform reliability.
- Preferred
- Salesforce Platform knowledge and experience working alongside Salesforce development teams.
- Experience with event-driven integrations and enterprise integration patterns.
- Experience defining integration testing strategies for large-scale platforms.
- Experience in government/federal contracting environments.
