Responsibilities of the Data Center Technician
- Install, label, test, troubleshoot and turn up telecommunication equipment, copper and fiber optics, as specified in engineering instructions and drawings.
- Rack and stack data center equipment for AC and DC power.
- Sewing cable/ Cable dressing in high density racks.
- On-site analysis of job drawings and specifications to resolve any issues prior to job start
- Understanding of SMOP’s and DMOP’s for the project
- Participate in all internal and external quality audits
- Performs additions, removals, and modifications on working equipment and circuits.
- Performs power verification and power up equipment.
- Function as the POC for support groups such as engineering, material assignment etc.
- Maintain a professional orientation, ensuring quality and outstanding customer service
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience working in Central Office or Data Center environment.
- Proven experience installing, testing and troubleshooting copper and fiber optics, and data telecom network equipment in a Data Center environment.
- Experience building and testing equipment racks for AC and DC power.
- Experience Sewing/Cable dressing in high density racks.
- Perform all work with safety in mind and ensure that all safety measures are met.
- Demonstrated knowledge of TP76300 or similar installation standards.
- Ciena, Cisco, Fujitsu or other OEM equipment experience preferred.
- Strong verbal and written customer-facing skills.
- Computer skills to include MS Office experience.
- Experience with complying with all customer standards, paperwork and job completion forms.
- Ability to work on ladders up to 15ft., demonstrated manual dexterity, and lift and carry loads up to 40 lbs.
- You must have a valid Driver’s License and your own transportation, * Ciena/Adtran/Infinera equipment: 2 years (Required)
