Job description
The Senior Payroll HRIS Analyst is responsible for the design, configuration, optimization, and ongoing support of Workday Payroll for U.S. and Canada payroll operations. This role serves as the primary HRIS partner to Payroll, ensuring Workday solutions align with business requirements, operational needs, and compliance requirements across a complex payroll environment.
This individual partners closely with Payroll, HRIS, Benefits, Compensation, Time Tracking, IT, and other stakeholders to analyze complex payroll needs and translate business requirements into effective Workday configuration solutions. This role requires strong Workday Payroll expertise, a deep understanding of payroll processes, and the ability to identify impacts, recommend best practices, and drive continuous improvement.
Essential Functions
- Serve as the primary Workday Payroll HRIS subject matter expert responsible for the design, configuration, maintenance, and optimization of Workday Payroll functionality supporting U.S. and Canada payroll operations. Support complex payroll configuration including pay components, calculated fields, conditional rules, eligibility criteria, accumulations, and payroll processing configuration.
- Partner with Payroll leadership and cross-functional teams to analyze business requirements, identify opportunities for improvement, and design scalable Workday solutions that support varying operational needs across employee populations, locations, business segments, and country-specific requirements.
- Analyze and troubleshoot complex payroll system issues, perform root cause analysis, evaluate upstream and downstream impacts, and implement sustainable solutions to improve accuracy, efficiency, and overall payroll operations.
- Lead Workday testing activities for system enhancements, semi-annual Workday releases, payroll system updates, regulatory changes, integrations, and new functionality. Review release notes, assess payroll impacts, configure and validate functionality in test tenants, develop test scenarios, document results, and ensure solutions are production-ready prior to deployment.
- Support payroll-related configuration and processes across Workday modules, including Benefits, Compensation, Absence, reporting, and other areas impacting payroll processing. Makes program modifications to existing reports as necessary.
- Evaluate Workday functionality, releases, and industry best practices to proactively recommend enhancements, automation opportunities, and process improvements that increase operational effectiveness.
Additional Responsibilities
- Performs other duties as assigned., Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to analyze complex issues, identify root cause, evaluate impacts, and recommend effective solutions.
- Ability to translate business needs into scalable Workday configuration solutions that support operational and compliance requirements.
- Ability to effectively partner with technical and non-technical stakeholders across Payroll, HR, and IT teams.
- Ability to manage priorities, support system changes, and ensure appropriate testing, documentation, and implementation of solutions.
- Advanced knowledge of Workday Payroll configuration including pay components, calculated fields, condition rules, eligibility criteria, business processes, and payroll functionality, required.
- Strong understanding of payroll operations including payroll processing, retro calculations, taxation, compliance requirements, and payroll best practices.
- Knowledge of Workday functionality across related areas, including Time Tracking, Absence, Benefits, Compensation, reporting, and integrations; intermediate, required., * Bachelorβs degree required in related field
- Five (5) years or more experience in HRIS experience with hands-on Workday Payroll configuration experience supporting complex payroll environments.
- Five (5) years or more experience supporting large, multi-state and/or multi-country payroll operations. Workday Payroll Certification preferred.
- Workday Payroll Certification, preferred.

The compensation offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidateβs relevant experience; education, including relevant degrees or certifications; work location; market data/ranges; internal equity; internal salary ranges; etc. The position may also be eligible to receive an annual bonus, commission, and/or long-term incentive plan based on the level and/or type. Compensation ranges for the position are below:

$100,000.00
Maximum Pay Range:
$115,000.00
