Job description

Lead the architecture and design of large-scale, distributed database systems using Microsoft SQL Server in AWS cloud environments. Optimize SQL Server performance for cloud-based deployments, focusing on high-availability and scalability. Develop and implement solutions that seamlessly integrate Windows-based SQL Server with AWS’s Linux-based infrastructure. Create and maintain cross-platform tools and processes to ensure smooth operation in a hybrid environment. Serve as a technical lead for enterprise-level database services, addressing complex customer requirements and concerns. Collaborate with account managers and solution architects to design and implement database solutions that meet specific enterprise needs. Stay abreast of competitor offerings, particularly Microsoft Azure, and contribute to product strategy. Propose and implement innovative features to maintain AWS’s competitive edge in the database services market. Lead agile development cycles to quickly prototype, develop, and deploy new database features and improvements. Balance speed of delivery with code quality, security, and scalability requirements. Design and implement integrations between SQL Server and other AWS services (e.g., EC2, VPC, IAM). Collaborate with other AWS teams to ensure optimal performance and seamless user experience across the AWS ecosystem. Develop and implement strategies for managing database performance at massive scale, supporting thousands of concurrent customers. Create advanced monitoring and troubleshooting tools for large-scale database deployments. Ensure all database solutions meet required security standards and compliance regulations (e.g., FedRAMP, GDPR, HIPAA). Develop and implement security best practices for database management in cloud environments. Design and develop sophisticated automation systems for database management tasks. Integrate AI/ML technologies to enhance database performance, security, and ease of use. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members. Conduct design reviews and offer feedback on architecture, performance, and scalability issues. Engage directly with enterprise customers to gather requirements, provide technical consultations, and support complex implementations. Translate customer needs into technical specifications and product roadmap items. Create comprehensive technical documentation for internal teams and customers. Contribute to best practices guides, whitepapers, and other educational materials related to SQL Server on AWS.
