Job description
Summary: The Desktop Support Technician will be responsible for assisting with the support, management, and maintenance of all technology. The responsibilities include, but are not limited to, hardware and software support, inventory management, network troubleshooting, and user account management. The candidate should display a high level of communication, professionalism, and desire to contribute to the growing technical demands of Retail Tech., * Provide support to office and remote users while educating them in non-technical terms.
- Troubleshoot hardware, software and network issues.
- Repair, upgrade, and install workstations, phones, monitors, etc.
- Create and manage user accounts for all required applications and systems.
- Write configuration and knowledge documents to build on standard processes and procedures.
- Manage all inventory.
- Report daily or weekly to the IT Manager with task and project updates, as needed.
- Communicate effectively with end users and other management.
- Participate in meetings for technology planning, updates, etc.
- With roughly 200+ end users across the country, the role requires limited travel to remote offices nearby, as well as in-office and remote-based support.
- Responsible for upholding and complying with information and information systems security policies and procedures, as defined by the manager of technology and security.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Technical Skills
- Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems, including administration and troubleshooting
- Intermediate level understanding of iOS and MacOS devices
- Basic understanding of Linux distributions and using the terminal interface
- Working knowledge of network devices, protocols, and services
- Advanced knowledge of Office 365 services and applications
- Working knowledge of computer repair and maintenance
- Ability to type at least 50 wpm
- Critical thinker
- Organized
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Personable and professional
- Ability to teach end users in non-technical terms
- Ability to manage tasks by priority and time constraints
- Interested in details and processes
- Tends to take notes and ask questions, displaying active engagement, * At least 2 years of related technical experience or Associate degree in technology related studies.
- At least an Associate degree in technology-related studies
- Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation
Supervisory Accountability: The position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Physical Demands (The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job). The position is about 50/50 sitting and walking. The employee is frequently required to sit for long periods of time and work on a computer. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs. at a time.
Work Environment: This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copiers, filing cabinets.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Normal business hours are Monday through Friday from 8 am - 5 pm. Additional time may be needed during evening and week-end hours to support business initiatives.
