Job description

NexGen is currently seeking a .NET Developer to be responsible for development/maintenance of both current and future web-based applications including support of a legacy ASP.NET Web Forms application (VB.NET/C#) and its phased, Government-approved modernization to current .NET. The ideal candidate will possess demonstrable experience in developing web applications. This individual will be required to work closely with members of NexGen and client teams, including but not limited to subject matter experts, technical staff, and project managers. Essential Duties and Responsibilities (as assigned)

  • Design, development, and support of a legacy ASP.NET Web Forms application (VB.NET/C#), including incremental, Government-approved modernization to current .NET, as part of a team of developers.
  • Utilize established development tools, guidelines and conventions including but not limited to ASP.NET Web Forms, VB.NET, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, C#, Crystal Reports, and web services, with current .NET used for new decoupled components.
  • Accurately and effectively communicate with the Project Manager and other stakeholders to recommend solutions, provide status of on-going work, and in identification and mitigation of potential risks.
  • Collaborate with the staff to identify, address, and mitigate security risks and ensure compliance with the relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in design, development, and support of ASP.NET Web Forms applications (VB.NET and/or C#); experience with ASP.NET MVC, microservices, or cloud-based applications is a plus.
  • Experience using .NET core, Entity Framework.
  • Demonstrable experience with HTML, JavaScript, CSS knowledge and experience.
  • Experience with JavaScript; React or Angular experience is a plus.
  • Experience deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting Experience with JavaScript; React or Angular experience is a plus.
  • Experience processing XML and image files.
  • Advanced SQL knowledge including experience writing and deciphering complex SQL queries.
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server, including reading and writing standard queries against a DBA maintained schema.
  • Experience with writing unit tests.

Desired Skills

  • Experience Mentoring and guiding junior level developers.
  • Experience working in an Agile team (Scrum, Kanban, SAFe).
  • Experience documenting complex technical solutions.
  • Experience using Visual Studio to deploy .NET code to Azure cloud environments.
  • General knowledge of CI/CD pipelines a plus; GitHub-based source control experience preferred.
  • Experience with MS 365 tool suite for organization and documentation.

  • Demonstrably strong verbal and written communication.
  • Possess excellent time management skills in handling multiple priorities with individual deadlines.
  • Adapt to a rapidly changing environment and work creatively with minimal supervision.
  • The successful candidate will be able to pass background screening prior to employment.
  • US Citizenship, legal permanent residence, or US work authorization with minimum 3 years of US presence is required due to federal contract requirements., * Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related technical field.
