Job description

Design, program, and troubleshoot plant automation and equipment functions including PLC, robotics, HMI, PC, and Machine Vision. Maintain critical systems plant-wide to ensure required performance levels are met with a focus on product quality and on-time delivery. Along with daily support, the Controls Engineer will work with cross-departmental teams to enhance equipment operation and reliability through Capital (or otherwise) projects as well as program launch support assisting with integration, implementation, and equipment signoffs., * Maintain and troubleshoot automated control systems and components (not limited to electrical)

  • Clearly communicate technical information to production-level employees as well as staff
  • Comprehend technical procedures, specifications, and schematics
  • Apply Engineering principles to determine root cause and implement permanent countermeasure
  • Fulfill IT related requests at plant-level (with corporate support as required)
  • Cascade Engineering changes to the appropriate departments
  • Utilize data stored in the data acquisition system to identify and correct out of control processes
  • Lead technical projects using internal and external resources as necessary
  • Work with manufacturing to determine appropriate process flow (as well as support creation of PFMEA and control plans)
  • Follow TI processes and procedures while documenting and recording activity as required
  • Understand and follow customer specific requirements pertaining to machine programming and logic if applicable
  • APQP task completion as assigned

  • 5 years’ experience in Tier 1 automotive manufacturing preferred
  • Candidates with combination education/experience considered

Physical Requirements:

Ability to travel (including air travel and long automobile trips), including some overnight trips.

Working Conditions:

  • Manufacturing production environment (well-lit and clean - we take pride in our facility)
  • Some of work time is spent standing, walking, lifting and bending.
  • May be required to travel to plant and/or training sites.
  • Time split between office and production floor as task requires
