Job description
Application support:
- Maintaining and supporting key business applications used across core operations, preferably involving insurance
- Investigating, resolving and escalating application, data, reporting, document, payment and integration issues
- Using SQL, including SSRS and SSIS, configuration tools and approved support utilities to diagnose issues and deliver agreed changes
- Supporting controlled releases, testing, UAT, environment validation and implementation activity
Alongside this, you’ll help us strengthen service reliability and continuous improvement by:
- Identifying recurring issues and practical improvement opportunities that support resilience and efficiency
- Maintaining clear support documentation, test evidence and release records
- Working with business users, IT colleagues and suppliers to prioritise issues, agree fixes and manage delivery risks

Requirements
This is a varied role where you’ll work with colleagues across the business to understand system needs, resolve issues and support practical improvements. You’ll use your technical knowledge, analytical skills and attention to detail to help deliver reliable, effective application support. You’ll be part of a supportive and collaborative team, in a business where people are valued and ideas for improvement are welcomed.
Please note, this is an office-based position, working from our head office in Truro. Some hybrid working may be available after successful completion of a probationary period., * Experience supporting business-critical applications in a structured service environment
- It would be desirable to have knowledge of supporting a policy administration platform, and the operational processes they support
- Ability to use SQL and associated tools such as SSRS and SSIS to investigate application data, reporting outputs, interface issues and data quality concerns
- Understanding of application integrations, system dependencies, operational data flows, testing, release management and change control practices
- Strong analytical, data management, numeracy and problem-solving skills, with good attention to detail
- Clear communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to business users, IT colleagues and suppliers
- Understanding of how core applications contribute to operational resilience, service delivery and business objectives, * GCSE or equivalent (required)
