Job description
Amentum is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a Technical Point of Contact (TPOC) supporting the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Dahlgren Division, H20 , as the Government Product Owner overseeing a subsystem within the larger AN/SQQ-89 Undersea Warfare System (USW) . This position is on-site at Lockheed Martin in Manassas, Virginia ., * Provide meeting support, review and manage system requirements, review system features, review and update technical documentation, and provide USW Weapons Control system architecture oversight .
- Collaborate closely with other Navy Warfare Centers, Technical Direction Agents (TDAs), and system integrator software developers.
- Manage the integrator product backlog, refine performance specifications, and review integrator design artifacts.
- Coordinate with test teams to review and analyze test event results.
- Maintain traceability from high-level Navy capabilities to subsystem-specific requirements using dynamic databases.
- Evaluate the localized impact of requirement Change Proposals (CPs) on the specified functional area.
- Collaborate with other Warfare Centers in Joint Requirement Working Group (JRWG) meetings to review Performance Specifications (P-Specs) and ensure interfaces between the SQQ-89 subsystem and the larger combat system are clearly defined.
- Review contractor-delivered design artifacts, including Functional Design Documents (FDDs) and Interface Design Documents (IDDs) , to verify architectural compliance and identify potential integration risks with other combat systems.
- Provide government oversight at technical meetings for the SQQ-89 subsystem and act as the primary TPOC for subsystem feature validation , ensuring contractor priorities align with sponsor direction.
- Support the investigation of subsystem-specific anomalies and test failures, collaborate with lab personnel to review data logs, assist in coordinating issue recreation in lab environments, and validate detailed findings.
- Represent the customer at Bug Adjudication Board (BAB) meetings, collaborating with Fleet Support, Safety, and other Warfare Center personnel to prioritize bugs affecting the SQQ-89 subsystem.
- Bridge communication gaps between NSWC team members, the system integrator, TDAs, and Navy Warfare Centers to ensure unified execution of system requirements.
- Assess high-priority defects for the SQQ-89 subsystem and coordinate with other teams to evaluate fleet impact.
- Draft subsystem-specific government correspondence, as required, to identify requirement deviations or non-compliance.
- Evaluate performance and technical risks for the subsystem area and develop clear, concise briefings for program leadership.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline , or four (4) years of demonstrated knowledge base and subject matter expertise relevant to the specific technical discipline of the SOW, including qualifications as a U.S. Naval operational expert in a combat systems rate at the E7 level or higher .
- Six (6) years of engineering experience with a Maritime major weapons control or C2 system program.
- Experience related to the design, planning, analysis, research, testing, or documentation of complex systems throughout the complete engineering life cycle.
- Four (4) years of concurrent experience with Navy surface ship Undersea Warfare weapons control or command and control systems.
- Three (3) years of concurrent demonstrated expertise understanding and developing Engineering Change Proposals (ECP), Interface Change Requests (ICR), Interface Design Specifications (IDS), Weapon Specifications, and other system design/system integration documents.
- Demonstrated experience with weapon and combat system certification processes and requirements , specifically self-certification criteria for elements of the Aegis Warfare System.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with IBM DOORS for requirements management and Atlassian JIRA for Agile tracking.
- Experience working within the Navy Warfare Center enterprise , interacting with Navy Technical Authorities.
