Azure Data Warehouse Architect

The Data Architect supports enterprise data warehouse modernization initiatives within a large-scale public sector environment. This role focuses on designing scalable data architectures, developing enterprise data models, and implementing cloud-based data engineering solutions using Azure technologies. The position works closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, governed, and secure data solutions supporting mission-critical systems. Key Responsibilities Enterprise Data Architecture & Modeling

• Design and maintain enterprise logical and physical data models
• Support architecture across operational data stores, data warehouses, and data marts
• Develop source-to-target mappings and data transformation specifications
• Ensure data structures align with scalability requirements and modernization goals

Data Governance, Quality & Lineage

• Define and enforce data architecture standards, naming conventions, and governance processes
• Develop and maintain data lineage documentation and traceability frameworks
• Establish data quality rules and validation processes
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory standards

Azure Data Engineering & ETL Architecture

• Design and optimize enterprise ETL pipelines and data acquisition processes
• Develop scalable cloud data solutions using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Synapse, and Purview
• Implement performance optimization, error handling, and recovery strategies
• Support high-availability and high-performance data environments

Database Optimization & Technical Leadership

• Provide expertise in database performance tuning, indexing strategies, and resource optimization
• Serve as a subject matter expert for data architecture, modeling, and integration patterns
• Collaborate with developers, analysts, and stakeholders to align data solutions with requirements

Documentation & Continuous Improvement

• Maintain architecture documentation, data models, mappings, and governance artifacts
• Support audit readiness and knowledge transfer initiatives
• Contribute to continuous improvement of data architecture frameworks, standards, and tools

Do you have experience in Scalable systems?, Do you have a Bachelor’s degree?, * Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent professional experience

• 7 or more years of experience in enterprise data architecture, ETL development, or data engineering
• 3 or more years of hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, and Azure Purview
• Strong experience with Spark, Python, or Scala for large-scale data processing
• Advanced SQL expertise supporting complex data warehouse environments
• Strong understanding of data governance, Azure RBAC, and enterprise security protocols
• Proven experience designing scalable ETL pipelines and cloud data architectures
• Experience supporting enterprise database environments and large-scale data transformations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with AWS data warehouse technologies including S3 or DataSync
• Knowledge of compliance requirements including criminal justice, healthcare, or personal data regulations
• Microsoft Azure or Databricks certifications
