Senior Full-Stack Java Engineer - German-speaking

As a Senior Full-Stack Java Developer (f/m/x) at Avenga, you will work on complex software development and modernization initiatives for a major financial services customer in Germany.

You will join a technically demanding banking environment focused on the re-engineering and further development of enterprise applications. Your role will combine hands-on Java development with software architecture, migration, testing, DevOps, and technical ownership.

You will work closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts, Subsystem Owners and other technical stakeholders, helping translate business requirements into reliable, secure and scalable software solutions., In this role, you will take technical ownership of software development within your area of expertise, contributing to both hands-on implementation and the technological direction of the solution.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Designing programming specifications and supporting the re-engineering of existing enterprise applications
• Designing and implementing high-quality Java and Spring Boot solutions
• Taking responsibility for the technical architecture and further development of the system
• Developing scalable, secure and maintainable microservices and REST APIs
• Performing component and integration testing and developing automated test scenarios
• Further developing CI/CD, DevOps and test automation processes
• Contributing to application modernization and migration activities
• Conducting code reviews, pair programming and promoting Clean Code and engineering best practices
• Creating and maintaining technical and operational documentation
• Working closely with Product Owners, Business Analysts and Subsystem Owners to translate requirements into technical solutions
• Mentoring developers and supporting knowledge sharing within the team
• Supporting release and test management activities and ensuring compliance with the customer’s engineering, quality and security standards
• Structuring complex technical challenges and developing effective solutions in a regulated banking environment

The role requires strong experience in financial services, excellent German communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a highly regulated enterprise environment., You are a Senior Full-Stack Java Developer with strong experience in enterprise Java development and a solid understanding of software architecture and distributed systems. You are comfortable taking technical ownership, working with business and technical stakeholders, and contributing to complex modernization and migration initiatives., * 5+ years of professional experience as a Full-Stack Java Developer in Java-based development projects

• Strong hands-on expertise in Java, Spring Boot, Microservices and REST APIs
• Strong experience with software architecture, distributed systems and object-oriented data modelling
• Professional experience in banking, financial services, securities or another regulated financial environment
• Strong knowledge of connecting Java applications to relational databases, ideally PostgreSQL
• Experience with application modernization, re-engineering and migration projects
• Strong experience with automated and manual testing, test automation and quality assurance
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD, DevOps, version control, build and release management
• Experience with private cloud environments, cloud migration, security, compliance and governance
• Practical experience with Large Language Models and their application in software development
• Experience with Clean Code, software design patterns, code reviews and secure coding practices
• Fluent German and English skills, both written and spoken
