Job description

The Senior Salesforce Developer is responsible for designing, developing, implementing, and supporting customized Salesforce applications and related workflows on the Service Cloud (and Experience Cloud) platform. This role is a member of the technical team and will work closely with the Salesforce Portfolio Manager, Administrator(s), Developers, agencies throughout the client and related third-party vendors. Partnering with the team, the Senior Salesforce Developer will be responsible for understanding the existing platform configuration and design, troubleshooting application errors, identifying and analyzing business requirements, recommending solutions, and implementing customer workflows. At a high level, this position supports the client’s 311 system in handling resident service requests., Application Development & Support: ? Design, develop, test, and deploy Salesforce solutions using Apex (classes, triggers, batch/asynchronous processing), Lightning Web Components (LWC), Visualforce, and Flow/process automation. ? Write clean, well-documented, testable code that meets Salesforce code coverage requirements and follows platform best practices and governor limits. ? Build and maintain integrations between Salesforce and third-party/city systems (e.g., case management, GIS, telephony) using REST/SOAP APIs, middleware, or platform events. ? Work closely with 311 operations, city agencies, and the technical team to coordinate changes through development, testing, and deployment. ? Create business and technical requirements documents; conduct reviews of these requirements to communicate and manage enhancements to functionality. ? Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations as requested by functional areas. ? Partner with the Salesforce Administrator on routine maintenance activities, including monitoring operations and performance. ? Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in Salesforce and associated systems such as SQL Server and Heroku. ? Monitor data quality and implement processes to improve data accuracy and consistency.

Technical Leadership: ? Develop an in-depth understanding of the current solutions and architecture. ? Conduct code reviews and provide technical mentorship and guidance to other developers on the team. ? Support release management practices, including version control (Git), sandbox strategy, and CI/CD deployment tools (e.g., Salesforce DX, Copado, Gearset, Jenkins). ? Evaluate internal processes, procedures, and practices to proactively propose solutions that reduce duplicate work and manual processes and increase reuse and quality. ? Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in Salesforce and suggest improvements.

Requirements

? Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience). ? Salesforce Platform Developer I certification required; Platform Developer II, Application Architect, or other advanced certifications strongly preferred.

Experience: ? 3-5+ years of technical working experience in Salesforce development. ? Experience with Agile project methodology and practice. ? Experience with mobile application development.

Additional / Desirable Skills: ? Experience with Salesforce Web Services APIs (REST/SOAP) and integration/middleware tools. ? Experience with Salesforce Lightning development (Apex, LWC, Visualforce). ? Data modeling, management, and security. ? Deep understanding of data security best practices and balancing availability with security. ? Experience in a government setting.
