Job description

  • Serve as technical owner for software automaton supporting manufacturing acceptance test and visual inspection stations.
  • Provide expert-level support for production-critical issues.
  • Lead application enhancements, migrations, and modernization efforts driven by user needs, instrumentation and infrastructure changes.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to perform automation application updates, manage technical risk, and coordinate releases.
  • Establish and maintain required SDLC documentation, testing, and release.

Requirements

Medtronic Tempe Campus (MTC), is looking for a Principal Automation Software Engineer to work in the Software Automation team to support Manufacturing Operations. An ideal candidate for this position will be a self-motivated individual with a thorough understanding of current manufacturing automation software. The candidate must have strong problem solving and analytic skills in addition to excellent written and oral communication competencies.

Test and visual inspection automation provides technical ownership and leadership for traceability workflow applications at the Tempe campus. This role stabilizes critical manufacturing acceptance systems and leads the transition from legacy tools to next-generation, enterprise-aligned solutions., Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires a Baccalaureate degree and minimum of 7 years of relevant Software Engineering experience OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant Software Engineering experience OR PhD with 3 years relevant Software Engineering experience., * Proficiency in National Instruments LabView and TestStand is strongly preferred to be successful in this role.

  • Strong knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle (requirements, design, testing, release).
  • Experience with multiple modern and legacy Windows Operating Systems
  • Proven ability to support production systems in a regulated manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in medical device manufacturing or other regulated industries.
  • Experience modernizing legacy applications.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing traceability systems.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$152,800.00 - $229,200.00

This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
